In the M3 trailor it seems like smith is neo's equal (rival) and there final fight determines the fate of machine and man....

i think smith gets that "the one" type of upgrade somehow when neo and smith (in the guy he took over) are in a coma. it probably has somthing to do with that!

Given these assumptions, do you guys think this is a legit idea?

Possibly. But what would he have to do in the real world to get abilities in the Matrix? If Neo and Smith-in-someones-body were on beds in the Matrix, and Smith 'assimilated' him or something, maybe, but what does one do on the outside world do get those powers into the Matrix? And the body Smith inhabits in the world would still have to be jacked back into the Matrix, if he wanted to use those powers inside the Matrix.

Also, Smith has always had these powers of speed/agility/etc because he WAS an Agent; he just lost the Agent purpose, but not Agent abilities. And he could have had a small upgarde when Neo jumped in him, assuming some of Neo's code of ability also got written to Smith.

May sprout into a good idea. Expand on it though

Smith became a virus in M2. And a virus needs a host to expand. i wont know 4 sure how it will happen, im saying in the M3 preview just one and only one smith was handling his own against neo. Watch the M3 preview again... its crazy insane. Im just thinking that the end of M2 might have somthing to do with it.

PS... im an ultimate smith fan so i am siked to find out!

Dude, I am so with you on the Smith fan. I love him. Can't wait to see it too.

The whole expanding thing; he's just writing his code on top of other people's code in the Matrix. That's how he makes so many of him. And I saw the trailer-- there are a TON!!!
