That's not quite true. Flight of the Osiris and "Kid's Story" both relate directly to and give background info on Reloaded. Though they are not vital to the story, I would recommend watching them before the movie if you have the option.

I think that the animatrix helps you better understand some things about reloded..... but it doesn't matter in what order you seem them in

I saw the animatrix after M2 and there were some things that made a lot more sense after M2...also, you should play "Enter the Matrix" also (the story within occurs before and during M2, but after the flight of the Osiris.) good stuff...

About 4 of the short films explain a lot about the Matrix or the Matrix Reloaded.

BUY the dvd. if you have seen reloaded, it will be definitly worth it. and if you havent seen it, id still reccomend seeing it. one you see it, and watch reloaded again afterwards, you see a lot more.
