Is life within the Matrix really that bad?... Are the machines that control the Matrix truly evil?

One can make the argument that the Matrix is indeed a good (pleasant) thing for humans, as their situation could be much worse... The reality for humans is that they are a source food, and futhermore destine for death.

The Matrix was created to disguise this reality and give the humans a better life (perception), rather than live in a conscious state during thier days of proliferation. Thus, it appears the machines created the Matrix to give the humans a better way of life... It's like humans allowing cows to roam the fields and enjoy life, rather than keep them trapped within a cage.

Just because you put a cow in a field does not mean that it is any less cruel that you are going to "harvest" them. However, you do raise an interesting point.

I have to go but I'll be back to continue this.

Well, that's the whole point! Is life really that bad in the Matrix? No, offcourse not, because it was designed to simulate a world where people would be able to live normally (in order to get the most energy off their bodies ).
So life inside the Matrix is experienced 'normal'. Only to the free minded like Neo and Morpheus it's a hell, because they know that all inside the matrix isn't real.
Personally I like living in the Matrix more than the Real World, just like Cypher realized. If you were set free, what would you do? The Sentinels are everywhere, the only place to go is Zion, which is treaten in 'Matrix Reloaded'. I like my life better inside the Matrix, but I want to be aware that I'm in it.
Interesting thought though!

Yeah I guess I can understand what you are saying, but I still feel that I would not want to be living somewhere where I know that I am just a piece of cattle and that I am being herded (metaphorical). I would much rather live in the world where I am not living a lie. The AIs could all of sudden find another energy source and then decide to kill all the humans. I just coudln't live with that fear!

The point is that you don't know you're being killed by the Sentinels. They just simulate a more 'natural' death in the Matrix. Only free minded know they are slaughtered.
Maybe it's not so bad to 'not know' ;).

Good post Cyph....er.......Trimax! Kidding, of course. You do bring up a good point. Life within the Matrix does not seem all that bad, like you all said, because they do not realize they are being decieved. But one can't just walk into...uh.....wherever that is smashing pods and liberating mankind, eh? They must be given a choice, like Neo, and Cypher, to exit the Matrix. Though the problem is what if someone decides, as Cypher did, that they want to return? Then a certain few freedom fighters have a problem, now don't they. My next point was that there's not much of a life outside the Matrix, but I guess the point is to liberate enough people to be able to fight the machines, am I right? I'm still slightly new to the Matrix, so you'll have to pardon my ignorance on some counts. If I'm talking with too good grammar, if that's possible, someone do me a favor and slap me once or twice. When I get into conversations like this, I tend to want to up my vocab-o-meter to make my points sound intellegent. Once again, good post guys.....or girls.......yeah. I'm a guy in case anyone was wondering. Rambling again......

Good to hear. Say, I had this idea about a cetain Gungan being the master of the machines, an agent, and the one(you prolly won't get it unless you're a Star Wars fan. The entire community hates Jar Jar. Old joke. Never Mind...)

If you are interested in talking about Jar Jar go to the lounge and start a thread, maybe you'll find others like you! (doubt it) (jk!)

Well that is good idea on the machines being kind of decent to the human race but it is still sick in a way that machines actually use us as a food source. but it is a lso humane for some of the people in this world of humans. like if you have some people that hack the real world they feel better in another world or for people to get away from the insanity of this choatic world but overall its pretty good in the real world so i can go either way on this idea. later until next time!
