Long time, no see, those of matrixmania. I actually have no idea who's still active, but even if you have no bloody clue who I am, you get to read about me! Isn't that speshul?

On a slightly less ego-trip-motivated note, I thought I'd drop in, say hello... ask how y'all are doing and whether the water is still unwise to drink... and mention a bit about what's going on in my life.

At the grand old age of 17 (yes, I'm a baby, shush), I'm in my senior year of high school. I've gotten accepted to two colleges thusfar (and waiting on one more), and offered a partial scholarship to one ($10,000+, yeah!). I'm driving (beware), I'm job-hopping (too many seasonal jobs 'round here), and I'm still, yes, a matrix fan.

My favourite class this year is easily science fiction (yes, it's a class!), and I have the most sarcastic, hilarious, and down-right insane, badass teacher ever, who I think is still convinced he's in college. And he wears a bow-tie. Often a polka-dot bow-tie.

I also moshed for the first time this summer (I are so proud of myself!!1one!one). Speaking of moshing... any music suggestions anyone has? I am in some serious need of new music.

Perhaps the simplest stated reason for no longer scurrying across the boards here are that I'm freakishly busy these days, I'm no longer into message boards as much as I once was (real-time is better), and, yes, the matrix is old. It's past it's glory days, though it will always hold a special place in my heart o' favourite movies.

As I stated before, I'm curious to know how everyone's doing nowadays, especially those I know and who know me. I suppose if you don't know me, you could tell me... no promises on reading/caring, though.

I'm still lurking around whenever I get the chance (which isn't very often). Glad to hear you're dooing well Kara. What colleges are you looking at? Any major in mind?

These past four months have been the worst--and fastest--months of my life. I've come to realize why everyone doesn't take the 'pre-med at a big university' route. I average 4 hours of sleep a night. I've gone out and had fun maybe 4 weekends out of the entire semester. I'm tired, exhausted, and overwhelmed... and I'm not even pulling A's in all my classes, despite the fact that my life is school. The only good thing about this semester is that it is going by unbelievably fast. I cannot tell you guys how stunned I am that Thanksgiving is next week. I've just been too busy to realize how much time is passing by.

So yeah, I'm having a shitty time, but if anything it's strengthened my resolve to carry on this path. It pisses me off when my friends who are business majors knock at my door piss drunk at 3am on thursday night while I'm typing up a lab paper, but I'm quite certain that in the long run I'll win at life. The fact that my classes are interesting and pretty cool helps in the whole process, it's just that the work consumes all your time.

And I would check out Avenged Sevenfold. Probably isn't the type of music any gal would listen to, but if you're enchanted by moshing, then it might be worth a shot.

Marquette, NIU, and North Central. As for a major... I'm debating. I'm thinking a multimedia-type major (NC just started this major, and 'tis very tempting), though I also considered something like clinical lab science. I sucketh at Physics and Precalc, so I'd stick in the bio, chem, and geo departments.

I admire your determination. I could never do pre-med (aside from being pretty skittish about deformity and blood and such) because it's so tough. But I think you're going to manage. What do you think you'll do specifically, as a job?

Yes, I think you will. They'll still be drinking and living the life of a cubicle creature, and you'll be making lots of money. We'll -always- need doctors, after all.

I've heard a few snippets of their songs from my brother; maybe I'll jab him for the cd. Thanks.

I spend ten hours a week at university. That'll probably be changing for the next couple of weeks - load of work to do, but nothing in the vicinity of TINM's nastiness.
To each his own, I guess.

Sweet seventeen? Is that past the age of consent where you are living?

wowsers, I almost forgot this place existed!

I'm still living in California with NMN...going to school, pulling a 4.0 (nerd alert), writing for my college paper and loving every minute of it. I'm getting promoted to news editor in the spring semester which is super duper.

My folks and younger brother are all visiting from Australia next month for Christmas/New Years/ My 21st. Its been a year since I saw my parents. Words cannot explain my excitement ;)

44 days still I'm the big 2-1. I expect massive amounts of alcohol in my mailbox.

So how does it feel to reach the legal drinking age, twice?

Updates, hmm. Well, I'm almost done with my second to last semester of undergraduate work, and then only one whole semester away from graduating with a BA in psychology. Then its a grand ole year-off to get my shit straight for graduate school. I'm not sure what I want to do yet, whether its getting an MA and then a Ph.D. or just diving head first into a Ph.D. program. I guess whoever will take me. I mean, I'm pretty close to graduating Summa Cum Laude, at least Magna Cum Laude (highest and second highest honors, respectively). If no one else is proud of that fact, I know I am. Oh, and I'm probably going to Boston this coming summer for the annual APA research conference with a few other students, as we worked on a study this semester that we are going to repeat and represent at this conference. SHould be fun stuff.

Other than school, I am just working and hating paying car repair bills. Good stuff.

Well, I've been busy, for the first time in about five years, if not ever.

I can't remember if I told you guys, but I'm on this pre-army one-year program, which involves communal living of I think it's 38 kids my age (we go home once a week), and mainly a schedule of studying all kinds of humanist topics - which we're not going to be tested on - it's for the sake of knowledge, and "character buildling" - and a day and a half of what you'd call voluntary work if it was voluntary, plus very frequent excursions, less frequent army-oriented activities (we're less army-focused than you'd probably think), and in principle, self-management, though it's very partial, much more than the kids here would like.
It's very interesting but very, very busy, with very little free time. For me this year mainly involves being with other people and having to relate to them in one way or another. It's emotionally exhausting, for me even more than for the rest of the kids, especially this past week with my sleep problems making a comeback.
I was planning to update you when I got a clear idea of how this year was going and whether I was heading in the right track, but as it seems likely that's never going to happen and I'm going to spend most of this year confused out of my brain, I'm letting you know now.
Interesting stuff. Tumultuous.

And in other, much more important news, I just got the LOTR trilogy extended edition, which I have yet to watch. Should be fun. Who's up for an 11-hour movie marathon?

Wow, haven't been here in a while. I'm sticking with my Architectural Engineering major, loving life in Chicago. I recently went through a huge heartbreak, but for now I'm just enjoying being single. The joy that is college volleyball basically takes up my whole life, but I got my starting spot so I'm happy. Oh, I might be going to Russia over winter break. It will be pretty expensive, but when school costs 40 grand a year, what's another loan in the long run?

Life goes on.
It's great to see that you're all doing well, I haven't been around for ages. At the moment I'm doing Business Studies in Sixth Form, in fact, I must dash as I'm five minutes late.
