Perhaps you folks have some good ideas. Can anyone think of a way to distribute points that does not involve posting? We wanna get away from awarding points for just posting in areas of the forum. It's too easy to go on for 3 or 4 pages in the crew lounge or some other thread and rake in the points.

How about getting a certain number of points every time you battle? This would encourage more people to battle more often and keep the system going. The only probablem is though, you need to be able to get points quickly to get your health back up.

Good idea Splint and good point too. Well, Is the Lottery still an option as well? That gave out some mad points. The only problem with that is you need points to purchase the tickets. You already have a captions contest for points too. Maybe we could hold more kinds of contests for points.

You don't need points to purchase tickets necessarily to the lottery. The amount will not change if no one puts any points toward it, but the pot will just be a pot. The one thing about a lottery is that only one person wins. And with only one person winning leads to ill-will and hatred. Envy is a powerful drug.

NMN the posting in threads system is not a bad one for getting points imo, but perhaps it could be limited to the RPG system or to some specific threads with more points distributed for each post, this would keep the battle happy point whores out of the rest of the forum (unless they have really to say something interesting or think so at least)? And I have to say, getting a decent weapon or ability and healing are way too expensive as well...

How about competitions, serious ones and light hearted ones that anyone can participate in, the Awards are the obvious start to this, but things like the caption contest and others could be expended to get people points if they win. Maybe art, photography, poetry, story writing, anything could be turned into a competition and some mean a little more effort has to be involved.

I am certainly all for finding a way to end the post-whoring. Perhaps bring the bank back but not the thief option. This will allow members to gain interest which can add up to a lot of free points every day. Then, give everyone a flat number of points, maybe 100 or 300 or something like that. Certainly not too many points or it will just get stupid again. But the interest factor combined with the contests we currently have and the lotto should supply plenty of points. Then just disable all points on all parts of the forum.

Thank you, all. Your ideas, combined with something I just thought of, should pull this thing off without the aid of post-whoring. More details to come as we implement these idears.

Idears? Personally I'd suggest something like a sig or avatar competition based on a theme. Anyone interested?
