I think it would be better to leave the exact outcome of Neo mysterious and left up to us to make the decision
unless like half the animatrix 2 would be soely about neo's return and such

Neo is dead, accept it. I don't think another movie would be good anyway. And the whole " choice being up to us " thing. That should go without saying. Even though he pretty much said that in the first movie. Anyways, a 4th movie would kill it. Another animatrix would be okay. More mini-movies. Like how the Architect and the Orical came to be. Maybe one from Agent Smith's point of view. Little voice over monolog thing going on. That'd be nice.

I think TSR 1&2 would make an excellent movie provided that both episodes were made into just one 2hr flick. I got a better kick out of that story than 2 and 3 combined. 2 and 3 really damaged, and almost killed the matrix pheonmenon. Good stories maybe, but good movies they were not.
It would be difficult at this point to release another matrix flick with confidence. I found that people tolerated 2 to a degree in hopes that much would be explained in 3. Problem was, little was explained, and that which was seemed to be over the majority of peoples' heads.
Perhaps these were good exercises in philosophy... so be it. Nevertheless I believe the "brothers" were genius in creating the setting and foundation for a great story and then squandered their insightful efforts by putting out movies that displeased all but the most hardliner of matrix fans.
It is interesting that the trilogy was written completely before production began, which would tell me they are from the same schools of thought, the same standpoint and perspective. This may very well be, to the authors, but the problem arises when you present the foundation for an "epic" movie trilogy only to betray the first episode by releasing follow ups that resembled little of what made the original such a success. The original provide a solid story line and identified the struggle and the players. Reloaded did little more than to use the success of the first movie as a medium by which to present symbolistic exercises, and Revolutions went further to explain little and offer only philosophical debate as filler which by this time had gotten very old. After all 2 and 3 took hours to explain something that the original matrix could have done in 15 mins.
The bros are damn good creators, and I respect them for their originality and ability to make powerful films. In my book the matrix is the greatest and most powerful movie of all time. I think at this point making another matrix movie would not be a wise investment, and continuing a story line which has already gone down in flames would be foolhardy. Thus, to make another movie it might be a good idea to go back before the original matrix, before the story line got ridiculous and boring. Only there could there be any chance of bringing the matrix series back into perspective.
