I have once more returned to this revered forum, for reasons that are as of yet still unknown. Is it that my life is so utterly depraved of outside stimulus after years of blocking off what might be called a "real life", that I continue to venture to this place. Perhaps, perhaps not. Even considering that this along with the two other forums that I hitched up on (oh 4+ years ago) have all but shriveled and withered into the wind. Not unlike the human body that grows increasingly irrelevant with each passing year of senescence. Why still do I make the journey here, even though I have not constructed a meaningful post in probably a year- possibly two. Is it that I am still enthralled in the nostalgia when I, G.A.O.T.U., HU, Ou Be Low hoo, Macleod and many others would engage in essay length responses spanning pages upon pages of discussion on the most mundane on up to the most profound of existentialism.
Why I amongst all those that once convened here, am damned to return while virtually all others have moved on with their lives. Must I ruthlessly separate myself from the net completely in order to escape and dare I say it, actually "get a life"?
I believe the obvious answer to that last question is hell yes. I don't know quite yet what it is, but I think that if I do not get grounded in reality, life etc., I just may miss it.
Btw, when I finish my book(s) they will be under the pen name Mathius Trintignant.
-Because of the slow nature of things around here now I suppose i'll be back in a few days to see who-if anyone-responded.

So we've moved on, big deal. A site can have a transition period, can it not? I'd say we're either in that period, soon to be something completely different, or we'll just stagnate like this until every bit of every last member has been squeezed out and we're all just so sick of it, the owner pulls the plug.
I'll tell you what just isn't the same: the world since 2000. You would think that makes sense, right? It's quite true, really, most obviously a different millenium, a different century. You witnessed what few people can say twice in their lifetime. That's quite a change. We're in the 6th year of that, and just look around you. As you grow older, nothing is ever going to be the same. One piece of advice I can offer you, kiddo, is to just suck it up, and let it go. Nothing ever stays the same, and we are always changing.
You're right though, it just ain't the same.

Oh, still here? All of the above can be loosely ascribed to flagrant hypocrisy and a few vicious little lies. I'll just be starting to post on YCR(yourcinemareview) semi regularly from now on. The pen name deal is real however. I was just indulging in some stream-of-consciousness fiction there.

Well, Helios, it was definitely fun while it lasted, man. Good luck on your authoring, wind always being at your back and such. And never forget to take it sleazy. Your story of lost virginity still cracks me up every time I read it, man, and it always will.

If you're standing around in a bookstore with your thumb up your ass, wondering why someone would have a picture of a man punching a gorilla on the cover of a book, this book isn't for you. Kindly put it down and get the fuck out of the store. On the other hand, maybe you're a woman and you're reading this wondering "Is this book just for men?" I would say that it is only for men in the same way that lesbian porn sites on the Internet are only for women. -Maddox

I dunno why what I said is flagrant hypocrisy, but oh well. Can't please 'em all. However, if you do post on YCR, tell everyone else to. That'd be fantastic.

Let me spend a few minutes stating the obvious:
The forum is not really about the movies. It is not about the game, the anime, or any of the hype. The forum is about those people who, drawn together by a common interest, forged a bond that eclipsed that interest. In other words the forum became a community.
As with any community its members grew and changed. Many members outgrew the community but others still remain. It really is that simple. A community will always have something to talk about. Certainly any discussion worth while has grown beyond the scope of this forum, but there is little reason that it cannot still be held here. The only thing lacking is the will to do so.
