It's awesome simply because it's the Matrix, and because it's a Matrix game, as far as I'm concerned it's awesome.
However, I've heard that The Matrix Online hasn't really made the company all that much money. The game simply didn't sell that well.
I have no idea how well Path of Neo will sell, but The Matrix Online isn't on the shelves anymore now and it's switched companies and I've heard the Live Events team's involvement has been reduced from the original plan and today I read that their casting about for other sources of revenue has driven them to put real world advertisements on the billboards of Mega City.
Like many people, I couldn't justify buying the game. Paying for an online game isn't something I can do at this point in my life. I also haven't pirated it though I am one of those shady characters who is likely to know how and where to go.
But I have visited the front page at least once a month since the month before the game came out, and wished I had it, like, for Christmas or something.
Wouldn't it be kinda cool if they could turn the Matrix Online into a completely advertising driven enterprise availible for free download?
It would be even cooler if they'd use the same graphics to produce a "Matrix Studio" program that let people make their own Matrix-style fan films.
what do you all think about these new developments?
I thought they always advertised stuff, i'm sure i saw a billboard with Constantine on it, its ironic i know but its true. maybe they were only advertising Warner products
