While formality would make one's mannerisms appear sophisticated, I wouldn't say it makes one cultured in the best way. Saying that you're cultured really only means you've been fostered into or encouraged into a certain environment, one of these environments being a subculture, or michrochasm if you prefer, of society as a whole. Those who can say they've been extensively cultured are people who are socially well versed enough to fit into (and by fit into I mean be accepted by an audience of their peers belonging to a specific subculter) almost any social group. This is quite difficult because not only with people Snoopy's age, but people of all ages often label or created subgroups into which gender, race, age, social class, etc. play a role in whether or not you can be accepted as a part of one culture or another. All of that being said, formality has it's place, and while some may be revolted by it, there are just as many that find comfort in Snoopy's formality, whether or not it actually makes him "cultured".

I like formality, I enjoy formality. One might even say I reveled in formality. That said, I do not need it. I do not need artificial constructs around me to function. I do not despise people who listen to different music, or who use a different construct of language than me.

That, and that alone, is the reason why someone is affronted by 'bad language' or 'bad language'. It is a sense of superiority, a disgust of what is lower. It is an attempt to force one's own way over the other way.

Alas, however, you hold no power here, so you have little of an ability to force your own morals, and the moderators here hardly believe in compassionate suppression. You create a thread selfishly about yourself, don't expect people to adhere to your 'superior' mannerism.

DPD, you are a pretty smart guy when you are not drunk, ya know that

That's so false it's laughable. Hahaha. There I laughed. If Snoopy doesn't like swearing it's not because he believes he's superior. He simply feels uncomfortable when someone swears, and that's how he is.

Honestly, HU, could you have come up with something more pathetic? I think you just tried to pull out the famed "How to Be an Asshole While Sounding Intelligent" book. Unfortunately it seems you grabbed the "How to be an Asshole While Sounding Like one Too."And talk about "a sense of superiority." This from the person who believes he is God's (or lack of god's) gift to man, who believes he stepped down from the clouds to bestow upon all of us with his infinite knowledge.

That's your idea of flaming? Repeating the same 'insults' over and over again? I don't get it..

Silly HU, flaming is for idiots!

Who said anything about it being my idea of flaming? Your naivete astounds me. I was merely pointing out my point of view in a non-threatening way. HU, don't give me that bull shit about repeating the same insults over and over again. You do the same thing, and none of your posts are really original in any way at all because of it. Your lack of ability to come up with anything new without spewing it from countless supposed "scientific" textbooks is, really, quite disappointing.

How about you give each other a break Novus? HU? It was entertaining at first but now it's really, REALLY getting old. Just take it to pm now or shut the fuck up. Even I can't stand reading that crap anymore and that says something.

As much as I hate to say this, this isn't "Novus vs. HomoUniversalis." (Though that would make an interesting topic.) This is "Who hates me here?" as in, "Who hates Snoopy?"
