The bad part is that he has to take medication for the rest of his life. Because his body will keep trying to reject it. And most people never want to take their medicine cause of the side effects. I just hope that it succedes. Cause what if they have to take his new face off then what? Paper bag?

Quick update: French doctors completed the first partial face transplant last Sunday. This included the removal of the nose, mouth, and chin from a cadaver and attaching them to a womman who'd been mauled by a dog last may.

Yeah i was just about to mention that, they took the facial parts for the girl who had been attacked from a dead woman, which is kinda creepy IMO.

Would you rather they take the face off a living woman?

As of right now, the 38-year old woman in France is doing 'perfectly' according to the surgeon who worked on her. However, the woman must take certain drugs for the rest of her life, drugs which, according to the surgeon, carry "a slightly more elevated risk of cancer." So would you keep your mangled face, or rather get cancer down the line? It is a pickle, no doubt about it.

Here's the only image I could find, but it's better than nothing.

The woman wishes to remain anonymous, so they're being pretty stingy with photos.

She's recovering quite well according to reports- the 38-year-old already has some mobility in the new tissue and has proven herself able to speak and talk fairly clearly, despite earier reports saying she'd have to undergo extensive speech therapy. It'll be another six months before the nerves really start to regenerate, though, so who knows how much feeling she'll have. She also doens't blame the dog for the attack (it was her own) and has since then gotten another dog to replace the first which was euthanized after the attack.
