I love Slipknot, KoRn, Godsmack, Disturbed, System of a Down, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, Metallica, AC/DC, Ludracris, 50 Cent, Jay-Z, DMX, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and a few others I can't remember.

I really can't tell you why, only that these artists have certain songs that work with certain situations, like adrenaline, love, life, happiness, sorrow, all the emotions. They help a lot, and in return I feel better by listening to them.

I like quite a few .. some of them:

Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Pixies, Audioslave, Nirvana, Metallica (mostly the old stuff), Pink Floyd, Oasis, Rage Against the Machine, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Coldplay, Incubus, Placebo, G'n'R, The Thrills .. well, a bunch!

Also, got hooked to some KoRn and Evanescence after seeing their concerts .. Imo, Amy Lee has one of the most amazing voices!

Maybe I have a skewed perspective because I live literally minutes away from where some of them do/used to, but Green Day has been pretty popular for at least 10 years. And, of course you won't hear them on TV commercials in 30 years, you won't hear any bands that have come out in the 1990 or after on commercials in 30 years because of the fact that there's so many people making music right now, and half the nation has ADD and is too loyal to the trends to actually remember 30 years from now. It will only get worse.

Some of my favorite folks: Sublime, Led Zeppelin, Grateful Dead, 2pac, Ice Cube, Keak Da Sneak, The Frontline, Balance, Living Legends, Jurassic 5, Atmosphere, Heiroglyphics, Deltron 3030, Mac Dre, Andre Nickatina, E-A-Ski, E-40, Too $hort, Yukmouth, Obie Trice, Ludacris, Green Day, The Offspring, Foo Fighters, Papa Roach, 80's music, Debussy, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Oasis, Nate Dogg, Three Six Mafia, OutKast, 311, People Under the Stairs, Benefit, Brother Ali, Wu-Tang Clan, Talib Kweli, Rammstein, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, Nirvana, Bob Marley, Barrington Levy and The Roots....to name a few

jurrasic 5 are great, chali tuna has a is a fucken awesome rapper, 311 were great until they split, nirvana did excellent things even though my lead guitarist reckons that kurt cobain murdered rock and roll, and green day are green day... so they revitalized the punk scene in 1994-1998 in australia... so what? that was around dookie and nimrod, they gave living end the head start they needed to go global and now look at green day, theyre bigger sellouts than ever. everytime punk culture rears its ugly head greenday pop up and make some cash... remember Warning? the bomb album that nearly killed them? its just like the offspring who were also fucken huge in 1995, with smash and inexay de la hombre or whatever the fuck its called... im ranting.. i shall stop

Ixnay on the Hombre... is what it's called. I think.

Anyways, I view sellouts differently than others, I guess. I don't really care if a band sells out. As long as the music sounds good, and is worth my listening to, then who the fuck cares if they sell out? That's their deal, not mine. I guess I would stay loyal to them, because Green Day, for example, has yet to disappoint me.

Kurt Cobain was pretty good, because he introduced his own style. A lot of bands try to emulate his grunge, and I don't think he ruined rock and roll, because there is so many forms of it now, how could you? Back in the 50s when rock first appeared with people like Elvis or Buddy Holly, then I would agree with you, because there wasn't that much to ruin. Nirvana left their mark, even if some songs are pretty damn annoying.

But I will have to agree with you on Offspring, they didn't keep my interest with Splinter, and I really do like their stuff. That's a shame.

a shame indeed, its also a shame to see some of the phattest bands split before they can produce something truly legendary... RATM split and i think they could have made another album over renegades but they didnt, and At the drive in couldve gone even further than Relationship of command... Mars volta try but they diverged into a different sound... i hate when good bands break up.. it makes me cry

a) jet - they just rock. period.
b) no doubt - don't know a single song i don't like by no doubt. brill.
c) nirvana - these guys are just the greatest ever and the rock ten times as much as...
d) muse - even though they're brill, they're slightly upstaged by nirvana.

I'm addicted too the band Disturbed because I believe that their lyrics could really speak out to everyone. The chorus to "Just Stop" is my sig and I think it does mean something. My absolute favorite songs from them are "Just Stop" "Stricken" "Guarded" "Stupify" "Prayer" "Liberate" "Ten Thousand Fists" "Defy" "Land of Confusion" and "Sons of Plunder" I'm hooked.

Coldplay, because I've been so moved by their music. Its so good to chill out to, like when I'm driving the car. The Living End, because they are one of the best Australian bands around and they never set a foot wrong musically. Michael Buble, because he interprets the standards in such a way that people of all ages want to listen to jazz again. It will be the happiest day if my life when I can see him in concert! Powderfinger...yet another Australian band with the talent to make me want to rock out or cry. The same goes for Something for Kate, Missy Higgins and Pete Murray. And I'm getting back into the Killers and the Stokes. Lastly, Ben Folds. I can just have him on in the background and not want to skip songs. And everytime I hear "The Luckiest" I feel like smiling and crying at the same time.

I'm taking a less romantic or sappy approach here Splint. lol
I don't limit myself to one specific type of music..I tend to play what I am in the mood for and right now I am really digging Muse, Disturbed, Korn, and Tool. All great bands with a certain hard edge style that I can bang my head to.
