When I read his newer shit, some is hilarious, and some he is just trying way too hard. All of his old stuff was gut-busting and some of his new stuff is just behind to me. That, and I like getting nostalgic.

He's never going to top such masterpieces as "Crappy Children's Artwork" and "Love your kids? Prove it by beating them," but his stuff is always a riot, old or new. I liked his Dave Chappelle rant... So, so true.

Maybe I'm not American enough to enjoy the Chapelle thing properly, but I've also noticed that lately his stuff's becoming lamer. Ah well, give him some time ;)
You guys been following him for years then? I've only discovered him about six months ago... but I've read up the old ones and he does seem to have been more at the top of his game then... but the earlier pieces this year have still been kickass...

I agree to an extent, FYM. Some of Chappelle's stuff is only borderline funny, but I think it's definitely worth my watch. His old stand-up, "Killin' Them Softly," was hilarious, and so was the classic film, "Half Baked." With a lot of his stuff there is a certain amount of familiarity that you have to have with "American culture", and more specifically with, I guess you could call it "urban" culture. Chappelle's Show is definitely what catapulted Dave to the top of the game recently, but it's hard to say when he reached the top of his game, because he's been fuckin hilarious for years now.

Ha, DPD, I was actually talking about Maddox's article about Chapelle... I've never seen Chapelle's show since we don't have it here and probably never will since Israelis seem to have something against good programs. But I'll check out "Half Baked". Thanks ;)

If you want to see the most talked about sketches for Chappelle's Show go to www.entensity.net and click on 'funny shit'. There you will find clips from the show for you enjoyment and see some funny Chappelle shit. I don't know if you'll know any of he references, but they are funny nonetheless.
