Exactly my point. His entire purpose is numbers and balancing the equation yet he is unable to do that. He manages to create all of this other stuff and keep everything else in check but he cant figure out a better equation that does not rely on an anomoly to crash and then rebuild the system?

I don't think he relies on the anomaly - it's more a case of having the tools to deal with this anomaly when it comes up.
The Architect: "Your life is the sum of a remainder of an unbalanced equation inherent to the programming of the matrix. You are the eventuality of an anomaly, which despite my sincerest efforts I have been unable to eliminate from what is otherwise a harmony of mathematical precision. While it remains a burden assideously avoided, it is not unexpected, and thus not beyond a measure of control. Which has led you, inexorably, here."
It might be weak. I was never too happy with the Architect bit, but he is saying that the flaw is inherent to the programming, i.e. he'd have to change more or less everything. I guess if he was given more time he could have theoretically figured it out. I think the idea is that it has to do with human nature, which is something that's generall difficult for the machines to understand.

The architect can't figure it out simply because he isn't human. His first matrix was what he considered perfect, but he said the humans rejected it. He can't find a way to put in the imperfection that human nature requires without an unbalanced equation, containing the anomaly.

maybe it's becoz the numbers in the equation r sooo big, there r so many calculations & what ever he adds, subtracts, divides..... he always ends up with a remainder. Have u lot ever done long multiplication or long division........ it's exactly what it is.... LONG

I think it's far more complicated than numbers, but the remainder thing is right. It all has to do with the balance of power and control, and in that equation there was bound to be something so out of control to create a sense of balance, and that was neo. But in the end, the unbalancing of the equation was it's undoing, and humans wouldn't accept a balanced system, so what's the point? That human society doesn't work at all? Or just that no one could ever replicate our society, because it failed when the machines created the matrix, then failed again. It's a confusing circle of logic.

They have to both exist to balance the equation.
Like smith and neo.
