Underworld (the movie)

There's an old thread on this, but it's ancient & most (all?) of the people who posted to it aren't around anymore, so I thought I'd start a new one.

Have you seen this movie? What did you think?

I finally did, and OMG I was delighted. I really expected it to be pretty cheesy, but besides an actor or 2 that couldn't act (namely the guy who played Craven) the movie was rather nicely done. Sexy, flashy, gothy -- and pretty good filming AND a decent storyline to boot. I wouldn't name it amongst my top 5 and it certainly wasn't anything as thought provoking as the Matrix, but I'll be buying the dvd.

I remember when Vampire (the rpg) came out, and this is exactly the world I imagined when we gamed. Is the movie based upon the game? I guess I can go research that myself.

I really liked it aswell, and am having a nightmare trying to get hold of a script for it. I thought it was one of those rare films that had a genuinely good story that was focused on more than special effects, something thats also rare these days.

it hasent come out in australia yet.. so unfair, i thinks it due to begin on the 24th of this month, im hoping it will be good and i have heard from others it is.

I think you'll like it Stalin. If you like vampire/werewolf movies, anyway.

I'm also really looking forward to a couple of the previews shown.... So Close looks pretty intriguing, and I think the other was called Returners? It had kind of a Matrix vibe, with a bizarre twist.

thursday the 15th underworld is coming in the cinema's here in holland.

from what i have seen from the trailers it's a cool movie.
i'm realy going to that movie.

I was basically pleased with it. Visually it was very impressive and borrowed heavily from Matrix-type cinematogrophy..it looked and sounded outstanding on my system.

Tempest01...you couldn't have been more accurate with your assessment of Craven. His performance (and the female vamp that wanted to be with him) were definitely the low point of the movie.

I really liked Lucien's "Second" Lycan...only wished they developed him more. At first I did not like Lucien....too small and weasley looking...but by the end, I thought he did a pretty good job.

According to movies.com, there are already plans for a sequel as well as a third for 2004 & 2005.

www.entertheunderworld.com there is also a HALF-LIFE UNDERWORLD MOD. so who ever has half-life can download that.

wow i watched underworld and it's a very cool movie. negative things about underworld are that kraven guy. and the romeo and juliet thing between selene and michael

but for the rest the movie rocks :D

hey the female vampire overlord (amelia) looks alot like persephone (only she has smaller boobs then monica belucci)

I agree with everyone's assessments of the movie. I definitely wondered about Lucien when he first appeared. I mean, why the heck would all of these big bad@sses follow this little imperious guy? But yes, by the time he's personally chasing Michael, Lucien is perfect & believable.

I personally hope that they DO make sequels -- this is one of my fave genres, and this movie was done very well. (although that doesn't guarantee anything about the sequels, unfortunately...)

In the meantime, we have Half-Life, and my husband is going to download the mod.

i also hope they make a part 2 and if the one rocks mabey a part 3 :)

but still at the end you still don't know who where the real bad guy's. the vampire's or the lycans (werewolfs)

FINALLY saw it the other day, and WOW!!! Underworld rocks!! I can't wait for the sequel(s) :D It's so beautiful and goth and...wow... I wonder where they will take the storyline from here; will the sequels take place BEFORE or AFTER Underworld?

Yeh the movie was very cool, and on DVD there are some extended scenes that were deleted from the movie, which is why you should all buy the DVD.....

ive never seen it I guess I should go see it now too bad i dont have any money now i'll just have to wait till it comes on HBO :D

i wish they would put an option in dvd's to put the deleted scenes in the movie as regular that would be great :D

That's a really amazing idea and i'm sure that sometime in the near future someone in the industry will have the nous to do that.

if part 2 comes out. i think it will be set after part 1.
the third overlord vampire you see at the end (that is alittle like michael, well victor said it) will probaly go after selene and michael (with alot of vampire's of course) for killing victor.

but mabey something completly different will apear.
