smith_fan Hey, Can you recommend any movies that end with twists and turns that are shocking and negative/tragic of any genre? stalin6025 fight club american history x its a wonderful life the young posiners handbook altered states boys dont cry the painist silence of the lambs happiness hannibal red dragon hamlet endgame waiting for godot romeo and juliet requim for a dream human traffick children of the revolution well thats all i can think of at the moment, most are black comedies with a good plot, and twists at the end. *now there should be only one hamlet HU* Tempest01 2 that I like for their rather unexpected twists are Pitch Black & Memento. the end of Traffic surprised me to some extent (and it was an excellent movie). most others I can predict without fail. Oh, but American Beauty might meet your reqs, as will The Virgin Suicides. Horatio not sure you can see it where you are smith_fan but the recruit is good, if your into CIA films HomoUniversalis You said, Hamlet twice, Stalin. Donnie Darko is really great, SF, but I guess you already knew that :) HU smith_fan Originally posted by HomoUniversalis You said, Hamlet twice, Stalin. Donnie Darko is really great, SF, but I guess you already knew that :) HU I just bought Donnie Darko on Ebay... :) Sounds like a great movie. I've seen Memento and I love it! Do you any other movies that are "like" Memento, apart from David Lynch...? bLindsAge 2 words...The Ring.....(either the original Japanese "Ringu" or the English remake). ..watch it and keep telling yourself that it's just a PG13 movie. smith_fan Originally posted by bLindsAge 2 words...The Ring.....(either the original Japanese "Ringu" or the English remake). ..watch it and keep telling yourself that it's just a PG13 movie. I have the DVD but I haven't watched it yet... so, I'm gonna watch it tomorrow probably :) Tempest01 My husband saw The Ring. I wouldn't see it unless he saw it first & could give me a synopsis. His synopsis combined with the previews I didn't cover my eyes in time to miss gave me nightmares, I kid you not. Its pg13 rating -- in comparison to, say, The Matrix's R rating -- just goes to show that our priorities as a society are seriously f*cked. We rate sex (even that which is treated in a loving, positive manner) as more potentially harmful to our youth than some seriously sick mental crap. It irritates me beyond belief. bLindsAge If you really want to get freaked out...go frame by frame on some of the scenes (especially the "video" in the movie or when something happens quickly) There is a whole lot going on that you don't see at regular speed...... Let me know what you think. Happy New Year! stalin6025 'gaza strip' is another good one PP I see what you're saying, Temptest. A main part of the Matrix Trilogy's R rating is the "Kung-fu kicks to the head" and "Sci-fi themes." (these both gurantee an automatic high rating, the repeated, fatal kung-fu kicks almost ALWYAS get R) I don't remember where I read that, but somewhere it was posted (some parental movie guide) why things are rated what they are. bLindsAge, I'll have to watch that frame by frame now ^_^ *thanks* As for good movies, I'd suggest "Pitch Black." IMO, it's Vin Diesel's best film. They're supposedly working on "The Chronicles of Rid****," a three-part follow-up/prequel set. View Full Version : I need your help :) |
