and the holygrail/key maker is associated with the ascent into heaven.
And the Merovingian family is a descendant from Chirst, meaning the program might be written by or in image of a former one...

and the idea that mero and phersphone (yes HU the one you claim has big breasts in some other posts ;)) were the "adam and eve" (program for former one) that tempted god and now acts in sin and rules of there own, showing forms of anarchy.
i think this may be the first thread i have seen that has the matrix linked to religion in such a deep phase! but these idea's could be very interesting, keep it coming... i'm not really into religion but the links to the matrix is very perplexing and i wish to know more... :)
alright. well two of the main purposes of merovingian in the matrix:
purpose one
the merovingian is what the name implies. the merovingian's were a line of kings that carried the blood line of christ. they were keepers of the holy grail thus =keymaker = decsent into heaven (the source)
purpose two
the merovingian is married to peresphone. the peresphone of mythology is married to hadas, the god of the underworld (close to lucifer/satan) and ruler of the dead.
the trainman works for the merovingian. he ferried obsolute programs from the real world, to the matrix. the trainman represents the ferryman who ferries the dead across the river styx to the underworld ruled by hades.
thus the merovingian is a representation of the devil in that aspect. he was cast out of the machince city and took refuge in the matrix. he brings other programs into "his domain". programs that have no purpose (dead programs) come to him for protection. hades rules the dead, assited by various (demonic) helpers. these helpers are representative of vampires , werewolves and the ghosts that assist the merovingian.
Indeed everyone who made a deal with the devil (from outside the Matrix into the Matrix. Choosing exile).
Also, as said before if Neo represents Christ (and I know a lot of people believe that: He is the saviour of the people of Zion), than the sons of Christ with Maria Magdalena will form the Merovingian order.
What if Maria Magdalena is really the Matrix? (Gives an interesting twist to my floppy theory ;) )
Than the Merovingian order would be a program, meaning the Merovingian, who would be the "descendant" of a previous one.
