I'm sure that someone was bound to think of it, I'm quite happy I did...

Heres the idea:

Babblefish translation for the website, I'm not sure how efficiantly it translates, but I was thinking we could use the second one translation utility here:

It works rather well, and it'll convert into several languages that most of our visitors speak, German, French, Spanish and everything else, and it wouldn't take up too much room on the website.

Any thoughts?

Great suggestion, I think its a good idea, and can probably bring more international members to the site. Of course if you get too many, you dont want to have to translate EVERYTHING on the site.

See Helix, thats the beauty of that little box, that little box resides in the corner of each page, and then if the user wants the page translated, they click the flag of the country they want the page translated in.

We don't have to do ANY of the work.. that little box does the whole thing. :)

The bable fish link in this post is more than adequate for your needs on this site. I also wish you would become members too because I am answering up to 100 e-mails a day and though I don't mind translating, it is taking up a lot of my time for me to post.

I had an influx of mail that i had to translate when the origional posts by Xehirut and the Buddah paralells came out.

Dear Xehirut (who has been fantastic putting the bable link up for me and has encouraged me to keep responding to the email that I was getting gave them this handy tool. Unfortunatly, it isn't a complex translating service, and I didn't want Xehiruts postings to be confusing so I keep translating for people.

Intresting indeed, but does it convert correctly if you have two different languages on a page? Say if the first post is in german, and the next is in frence, and I want to read it in english. Is it going to translate it correctly?

Choi if youre lazy (like me lol) you can use babel, and a long time ago there were alot of emails sent to me. Now only once in a blue moon. Being of german background you would notice that when translated hans read 'register tons'. However if people of multilanguage or english as their second language use babel on here and that is why we have a hard time somtimes understanding posts.

But I am not the translater of the site, just a member and a very busy one so I help out when I can.

UT Well I don't know German, so I don't know that hans means 'register tons' :) but I do understand that in different languages sentances and words are structured differently so loose translations can be confusing. I took spanish for a year. Thats about all I learned, HaHa, that and three very usefull words "No Habla Espanol" -lol-

The Babel fish is similar to the multi-translating device they first put in place at the UN. However it was so loose people were being insulted. My proffesser was the first translator to start the Aus. Translating service for the government, as she was a huge assett to our country they made her a citizen without all of that waiting most poor souls have to endure.

So her annonciation is quite formal, and since in reality germans don't like it eg. the cosmoplitan cities, they understand Babel quite efficiently.
