Helios

rockreptile

rent it 1st... i rented it this past weekend... i found it's entertainment value to be good. i wouldn't mind seeing it again, but im not certain it is BUY material... however, with that said, it would be a good dvd to have at the crib, to entertain quests at a get together.
Terikan

maybe if the vampy chick would have gotten some action from the sausage fest on that ship it would have been worth buying, but unfortunately the movie is pretty crappy.
KEANU Holic

i thought the action was pretty nice, and i liked the invisible man. but the ending...i didnt get it...is there gonna be a second one or something?? it seems like there can't be cuz the main guy died, but maybe he comes back to life or something...who knows

SPOILER! SPOILER! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE

they left the ending open.... he died and they buried him,,, then at the end, they show the african guy doing some kind of voodoo/wierd stuff and clouds and then lightning...

i took it that, he was bring him back to life or something... cuz they stated before,, someone said, "africa would not let him die" ?

SPOILER! SPOILER! DO NOT READ THIS IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE

The movie had a great premise -- and a lot of potential -- but it didn't quite pull it all off. A little bit too much cheese. For example, the sword ship was cool, but waaaaaaay too unrealistic & goofy. Personally, it was a bit of fun, but not the best of the best. I won't be buying it.
Barcoded4life

i personally loved the movie... lol u say the swordship was cheesy and unrealistic... the whole movie was unrealistic that what makes it good. It has high tech gadgets and stuff for wut... the late 1700's early 1800's? The have vampires, invisible guy, an invincible guy, some pirate that has a very nice GINORMOUS submarine, and then there is Sherlock Holmes' arch nemises, James Moriartie (not sure if spelled right) behind all the attacks. I mean come on... cheesy and unrealistic but so were the matrix movies (except for the cheesy part). If they did make a sequel i dont know what they would do, but i would be one of the first people in line to see it. I would suggest buying it, but thats me and my opinion.
Helios

i recently read the playstation magazine and they had a review section for recent release dvd, this movie was in it and they said that the movie had some good special effects but was pretty much crap the book that the movie was based on was much much better but then again so are a lot of movies based on books, the Lord of the Ring trilogy is the only movie based on a book that was as good as the book or better but then there movie trilogies that just plain suck ( hint )all of the harry potter movies
KEANU Holic

seriously about the harry potter movies. i never realized how cheesy and terrible they were until i watched chamber of secrets in hebrew...it just made it so much worse. the third one looks a tiny bit better than the first two though. i know i liked the third book best.
Helios

where did you see the third one at i didnt think it was out yet, the third book was ok because you were still finding out a lot about harry though my favorite is the fifth one because you find out that harry has some kind of power inside of him but it doesnt really explain what it is.
Valasher

Well, it was like Riverworld meets X Men. I think one of the main reasons it came off as cheesy is that they didn't get the rights to all of the characters. And then there is the book "The Portait of Dorian Gray" that I never read, but can guess what it's about. All of these characters were based on literature, and I'm sure the comic was better because it gave clearer references to these characters. However the movie came out akward. It helps to have a bit of a reading background I suppose. I liked it, I loved that it was akward. I loved seeing the interpretations of all the famed characters. If you go to the website http://www.foxhome.com/lxg/ it will give you the history and profiles of the characters.
Terikan

I think it was just too silly to excite. The acting was pretty awful too.

when i saw the third LOTR in theatres on monday, there was a preview for harry potter 3. i think its coming out in june or july. did u ever notice harry potter is kinda similar to matrix in that in the 5th book you find out voldemort is harry's "opposite" or "negative". at least i think thats what it means. also that harry potter is the only one that can defeat voldemort, like neo is the only one who can defeat smith. kinda interesting...

That is interesting. I've had the fifth book for quite some time now but haven't gotten around to reading it yet but I will when I get the chance. Did you know that the film makers of the Harry Potter movies don't plan on making a movie for the fourth book?

where did you hear that from last i heard (couple days ago) they were going to make a movie for all the remaining books.

KEANU Holic just like the smith/neo relationship harry is somewhat voldemorts equal and if both of them say a spell at the same time neither of them can defeat each other remember from the fourth book at the end voldemort says the killing spell and harry the disarmanent spell at the same time their wands dont work against each other because they both have one of fawkes tail feathers in the core.

and it would be a shame if they didnt continue making the movies till the last book where obviously harry and voldemort will have some kind of final battle
