PC vs. MAC

Im just woundering what you guys think is better PC or MAC. I like PC's more because im not that into video and audio editing. I know thats whats Macs are primarly for. I like windows alot more and find that almost all computer games are not compatible with mac os. I'm just woundering what you guys think. Though I have to admit macs have cooler cases and desktops. Also Ipod's are amazing, just got one.

I like Windows more because I dont want to learn how to opperate a computer, I want to use it right away. If a first timer getz a Mac its like learning C++ to them.

I also like that you actually have a Taskbar where all the Windows are and not a packed Desktop.

PC...i like right click too much, and I know you don't really need it with a Mac or whatever, but I'm really used to PC and I'm not Mac-friendly

i'm a newbie to computers but isn't the UNIX os supposed to be one of the best?

PC > Mac

I have:

A PC desktop running XP
An ibook running OSX
A laptop and a server running Debian GNU/Linux

And you know what? They're all good for what I use them for. I honestly don't have any preference to either one of them ;).

it doesnt really bother me, as long as it turns on, has broadband and works without stuffing up, then its all good.

Definetly PC. Mac is too old, and outdated. I like new stuff, I like the change. PC is a lot easier, the controls are simple, Mac is like a do it all yourself system. I think PC is way better.

I sure wonder where the heck people are getting the idea that macs are outdated. Panther (OSX 10.3) has a number of features that can blow other os's socks of (exposé is just an example). It's also the only operating system I know that uses a 100% openGL rendered interface! With the G5 out now, Apple has the fastest desktop computer available to homeusers (there's no PC that has a 1GHz system bus atm).

As for having to do stuff yourself with macs? If anything my mac is pretty independent. If I connect it to a new network, it displays a list of all available printers and I can choose which one to print to. Please tell me what OS does that? XP? I thought you had to install a new printer if you wanted to use it. This is just an example of course, but it shows that on a mac, you don't have to do anything as a user 'It Just Works'.

On the topic of having to know Unix to be able to use apples OSX, that's untrue. You don't have to know a single thing about it. The big advantage of having Unix/BSD under the hood is that the people who need a power system, can use OSX too, since they have all their familiar tools on board.

Wow, CraHan, you just used 8 words I don't understand :D My theory on it is, if it works and it's easy, I like it. PC is basically a simpler version of MAC which I like. I thought MACs were outdated because they were made in the 1980's... I didn't know they created new 2000+ versions... I'm happy with my computer now. I had MAC before... It was like Pentium 1 lol. It kept losing more stuff, and getting slower and working less, that we had to throw it out. Then we got this computer, a PC, Cicero, with a MultiSync FE700+ monitor, and it uses Windows XP. I love it :)

Personaly I think Macs don't come with enough ram. My friend got a new Ibook or something and it is just not fast and can't do many things at once. I'm very suprised to see that alot of people like PC's more then Mac on this site. Im with you guys. Also could someone make this into a poll (PC and Mac) I don't know how.

I typed an 2 site essay andsomething pops up of nowhere and asks me to Update Word, but it is already updated 5 times...
so the teacher told me to cansel that and what happends?? THe thing shuts every Software down, including my 2 sited Essay !!!!!

But here it comes: I tried to rewrite it (after the first half I saved) and the damn Keyboard doesn't work anymore! So I look if its unpluged, cleaned everything 5 times, pluged it in and what comes up???! "Your Keyboard was removed from the Hardware, the system has to shut down"
I am so mad >_> and after restarting it ALL my files (even my Folder) was gone (yeah, even my scienecephere)

Im not being mean and I know its dissapointing to lose a file like that but that was truely the funniest thing I have every read on this site so far. Thank you for making my day. Also, like I said before can anyone make this a poll (MAC vs. PC) I don't know how.

I just wanted to show you a nice example what can happen every second on a MacOS...

I think what you experienced can happen on any OS. I've had numerous times on XP when Word of Excel just crashed on me. Since that day I have learned one thing and that's to save my progress as often as I can! :)

yeah but on XP you can rescue it and on Mac its just *puff* and it all dissappears

I guess you like it. Did you check out the 10GB ram you could get or the 1 terrbyte hardrive. I had a heart attack looking at it my first time. This is a score for the PC's. They rule. Im just woundering were go-l got the chips. Most of the video cards and pentium chips aren't even out yet. They are on the site though. Mabye they hijacked a shipment of prototypes for intel or something.

I know Windows is crap... But The Mac won't ever be as great as Microsoft... But thats not the point.. Since I've only been on a MAC once.. It's hard to say which is better...

Thats a cool monitor... And the price.. Is pretty much it's downfall...

76 inch is $8499.99
81 inch is $12499.99
92 inch is $17499.99

I think I'll stick to the single monitor... It's not really neccessary to have 4 screens anyway... One is enough for me... :)

Sorry to say, but those are 3.2Mhz chips that are just OC'ed, not really 3.5 or 3.8. That stuff can be done, and just takes time and money. Also, that comapny has had some interesting things said about it. Check it out if you'd like.

a lot of ppl think of macs like those old ones with the tiny screens but the new ones r so much cooler. im typing on a mac rite now, and the colors are a lot brighter than a pc, and the os looks neater. did u pc users kno almost all microsoft programs now have a mac version! pc's r cool too though...

We were talking about those iMacs with the cool glass screens and stuff ^^ Yeah, iMac lokks alot better than a regular PC, its just the system thats the problem...
Oh and there are Mac versions for PC Programs, but only really really old versions, and than it wants you to update and you click on something by accident and you rename it to nothing and the thing crashes (just like the guy says in the movie)

I also hate that many buttons are missing on the keyboard (or replaced by Really useless ones, and that the mouse is only one giant button.. (Oh I hate the sound it makes....)

PC plays waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more computer games than macs. i never liked macs. i never will. PC's are lots more "user friendly" than macs claim to be. and macs are the computers scientist use. they use PC at all the big companies. i feel like mac users live in a totally other country. ive never used a mac before but i dont like what i see in the commercials.

It all depends on what you're using the system for. For general, everyday use, yeah, PC is made for EVERYBODY to use. Macs are more for graphics...video, audio, etc....

...And for the record, the Windows setup was originally based on the Mac setup... ;) sorry PC users...Pull down menus started on the Mac...

I haven't got a lot of mac experience but I do have one major problem with modern pc's.
