I have suggestion, it may be stupid.

superman_0351

My suggestion is that new members should have to have 10 - 15 posts before they are permitted to create a new thread. My logic:

1. There have been an increasing number of pointless threads; i.e. people either creating a thread to say something like "hi im new" or "which ones hot?". While it is their perogative to do as they see fit, alot of these things could be discussed in a POST, not a thread. Also, by pointless, I mean that they show up and create a thread which there are already 10 threads for. Perhaps if they had to READ before they WROTE they would post in an already ongoing thread relating to the particular topic.

2. There have been an increasing number of inacurrate thread locations. People are starting to ask/pose reloaded things in revolutions, or vice versa. Once again, if they have to read a little first, perhaps they will have a better understanding of the setup of the forum (this is *really* only a problem for me because when you go post revolution topics in reloaded and people haven't seen it, it is almost a spoiler).

3. There have been an increasing number of "tactless" threads. People come on, create a thread (on their first post no less) and begin to cuss, and slander, and bash, and most don't even give reasons, they just vent. Once again, it is their perogative, but perhaps if they were forced to post 10 - 15 (or 20) first, they might read more threads and have a better understanding of the level of consideration, respect, and tact that we all try to adhere to. We often forget this is "discussion/debate" not "unsubstanciated b*tching/member bashing".

As i said, this could be stupid, and perhaps I'm just a b*tchy whiner, but when somebody makes a new thread on the phone call theory on their 3rd post, it can become frustrating (there are 10+ threads on the matter, and THOUSANDS of posts). It's like people don't see the search option. If i am wrong I apologize, it just MIGHT give n00bs a better idea of the general conduct/environment of the forum. Thanks for listening.

P.S. - The only problem I see with this is that somebody would "spam" post or post like 10 one liners in the same thread, just to get the number up in order to create a thread (this could easily be achieved in about 5 minutes).

I agree completely... But I think it should be 30. He is right. I've seen so many pointless threads, and the only ones with purpose are those of the members with a bit of experience... Like 30 posts experience. Thanks
superman_0351

Thanks man, I thought for sure I would be bombarded with "not fair to noobs" and "i didn't hear you complaining when you were a noob" and things like that, but my first thread didn't come until about my 18th or 19th post, and it was a very long winded thread on the phonecall theory. Appreciate the message man, nice to know at least one other person feels that way.

No problem... And I hope to god some more people feel that way...
eRider

i actually like the idea very much.. 'bout 20 posts would fit good.. best idea in a long time..
Valasher

That's actually not a bad idea. Switch the idea that you should have a certain amount of posts to get custom avatar with make new thread.
HomoUniversalis

Not a bad idea at all, but I doubt it's neccesary: the revolutions hype will soon die out and the newbies and n00bs will stop coming...
NeoLivesOn

hopefully then this website will be left to us oldies. I hate that everyday when I come on here, I see somone new has joined. There has to be 100 ppl here who have never posted at all. frankly, I'm getting tired of them cluttering our chat site.
ThereIsNoMatrix

Yeah, newbies suck - I say we disable the "Register" feature of the site.
AlmightyOne

Well TINM truth is we 'NEED' more users from what I have been told because we dont have that many active users so I think taking the register part is out of the question, but I do agree about the 10-15 posts before being alowed to start a thread. Though I think it should be more like 25-30 because 10-15 posts for some one is still kind of new and even then they would still post something like hey iam new. Hell even I can get 10-15 posts a day.

"I have a suggestion, it may be stupid"... Sarcasm my dear friend, sarcasm.

LOL. Once again you beat me to it TINM.

As for suggesting we leave this place for the 'oldies', I'm sorry but I disagree. I actually love coming here each morning to see another new member has joined us. There are always going to be people who sign up anywhere just to cause problems, however that is only 1%. The other 99% are very valuable here and are just like us 'oldies' when we first joined.;)
AlmightyOne

You know UT I never thought of it that way. Thanx for reminding me because when I was a noob you all probley looked at me as great what is he going to post, or he is going to be a pain I bet. Just look at me now 709 posts and I know alot of you, and maybe one of these noobs could turn out like that too.
Swampy

Having visited UT's homepage I have a point to make about here. On it they have a wet t-shirt gallery which says 'because all good websites need some hidden boobies'

Can we organise one of those for here, please? I'm sure it would be a good way of increasing interest in the place, especially if we could get Monica Belluci and Carrie Ann Moss to pose for it. Maybe some of the girls here could join in too.....

Just a thought;)
Mr. Hacker Dude

Yeep! 30 posts before starting a thread?
a) You'd have people spamming like crazy
b) What about all the people who are experienced on other sites and know exactly how this works, but just don't post that often?
c) You should get rid of all those members who joined, and never posted, and those who posted once and left. Free up a lot of space on the member list.
AgentSmith_fan

Well Mr. Hacker that is true in a way. But that is a good idea. I mean when I first entered this site I made alot of crapy threads. To tell you the truth and I was rather stupid in making alot of dumb replies. So I do agree with the 20-30 replies. Before making a thread. Because it will help the new people understand what type of replies they should post. Also if they made dumb posts then the mod's or the moderators as well as the administators can just delete it or just lock up the thread. To me that makes sense.

Or like Mr. Hacker they might start to spam like mad. So that they will be able to make a thread of their own. So I do agree with your suggestion superman.

No honey we can't sorry lol. Though you are free and very welcome to join that site if you want. I reckon it would be right up your street. It is for me! :D

The site in question is really for folks over the age of 18, and here the base age is 13.
Swampy

I already did, and your right, it is;) I'll see ya ther no doubt.

I kinda guessed that may be tha answer, but i didn't want to assume anything, after all nothing ventured....
UT

Definately nothing gained, exactly. Also who dares wins. :)
