Heya everyone, just thought I'd share a fan fic that I have been writing on another Matrix Forum.
My story is actually a continuation of what another poster, Kloraantu, began writing. I high recommend you read what he wrote before reading my story below, as his story explains A LOT and is VERY well written. You can find his story here:
http://www.thelastfreecity.com/zionswitchboard/messageview.cfm?catid=33&threadid=21255
Now, if you don't want to read his story (though I HIGHLY recommend it), then I will give a brief summary here... However I cannot do it's justice in this summary, you must read the actual thing to get the full effect.
Kloraantu's story pics up immediately after Revolutions. An 01 Emissary, along with several other machines have come to Zion to converse with the Humans. The 01 Emissary tells that Neo sacrificed himself for peace, and explains some conditions of the truce. These conditions include that the Emissary will stay in Zion, and a human representative must go to 01. The machines will also repair what damage has been done to Zion.
After a discussion with the Emissary, Morpheus jacks into the Matrix and meets the Oracle, where she tells him EVERYTHING. She explains what happened with Smith and Neo, how there were previous matrices, and how she helped steer events during this version of the Matrix to try to bring Peace to man and machine in the end.
As I said, I highly recommend you read Kloraantu's full story. My story takes place after Morpheus' conversation with the Oracle. It introduces a new character into the story, named Redux. All you need to know about him as of now is that he is captain of the ship "the Exanclo".
Without further ado -
After the Revolution: Unexpected Emergence
Long after night descends upon Zion, the prayer groups disband and the parties begin to die. While a small number of people keep a watchful eye upon Zion, ever-vigilant of the possibility of a surprise machine attack, most residents of Zion are home, sleeping if the excitement of peace does not prevent them. However, one particular man is stirring about his room.
(In Redux’s apartment) Redux is pacing back and forth in his room. Every few seconds one can hear him silently utter such phrases as “the bastards…” and “I don’t believe this.” Redux’s room is a mess. It appears as if someone was searching for something in the room. Everything is out of order, papers are cast a strew on the floor. It is a wonder as to what appears worst, the mess of Redux’s room or the terrible damage done to the dock. As his pace quickens he picks up a picture frame, which has a picture of him and his late wife encased in it, and bashes it across his forehead. Glass shards fall to the ground, while some shards remain puncturing his hand. Blood drips down his face on to the floor, as if to resemble red tears. “So delicate and fragile… it disgusts me,” states Redux. He continues his incessant pacing, but after several minutes comes to a halt. “Of course…” he says, followed by laughter… For some reason, we are reminded of a laugh in ‘Revolutions’ that sounds similar to this.
Redux cleans up after himself, wiping his face, hands, and changes his bloodstained shirt. Afterwards he leaves his room, in pursuit of his ship. Redux’s ship, the Exanclo, was decommissioned before the counter-attack began the day before. The ship itself was not suitable for travel, let alone a battle. Many of its systems were malfunctioning, however certain parts of it, such as the controls for entering the matrix, were still fully operational. The Exanclo is in the storage room at this minute, where it is to remain until time can be found to repair it.
As Redux reaches the storage facility his ship is at, the first morning of a peaceful Earth is creeping upon Zion. Since it is still rather early, Redux does not have much of a problem reaching the storage facility with many interrogations by security. “Mind if I grab something off my ship?” questions Redux. The security personnel stationed near the entrance to this storage facility jumps. He was half asleep and groggy. “Redux? What the hell are you doing down here at this time of night?” says the guard. Redux replies, “I like to get an early start on things… as I was saying, is it possible for me to go grab something on the Exanclo? I… forgot some personal belongings of mine in the heat of all this chaos.” “Sure thing, but make it quick, buddy,” tells the guard as he presses a button on the wall, unlocking the door. “We will…” states Redux as he entered the storage facility.
Redux boards the Exanclo, chuckling to himself. Once inside, he heads for the operator’s room. He switches on the computers stationed there, and green code trickles down the screens. We then see Redux open some applications and type. As he finishes, he calmly stands up and moves to a chair. He enters his settings on the touch screen monitor next to the chair, and then sits down. Pulling the cord into the jack in the back of his head, and pressing a button on the touch screen, Redux’s body goes limp, into a coma-like state.
Inside the Matrix, the camera is looking through a window. Through the window, there is a noticeable reflection that is not in focus. At this moment we see the landscape of the city in the Matrix, and the sun rising with Sati’s beautiful sky. All is completely silent until the reflection in the window says, “Look at it… it’s vile… repugnant…” Suddenly the reflection comes into focus, and the familiar face of Agent Smith is seen, as he puts on his sunglasses.

After the Revolution: Upgrades
As Smith puts on his sunglasses, we can now observe the entire room he is in. It appears to be an office, similar to that of which he was in during the first Matrix movie when he was interrogating Morpheus. Smith proceeds to walk from the window to the door on the other side of the room. His body is facing the door as he turns his head back towards the window. With this last glance, he twists the door knob, and opens it.
Before him stands an endless, sterile, white hallway filled with thousands of green doors. Smith walks into the hall, and shuts the door behind him. He then casually walks down the hall, turning his head at every other door, inspecting them with great detail. Upon coming to a crossroad in the hallway, he turns right and continues strolling. He then stops, and says to himself, "Yes, this is the one, I remember it." Opening the door to his left, he enters.
On the opposite side of the door, we see what appears to be a control room. The room is not very large, and it has no other exits. Much of the walls are covered with computer monitors, loosely resembling those that Zion used to operate the gates of the subterranean city. This area does not seem to be part of the matrix itself, but perhaps a program similar to the construct and loading applications the humans had created. In front of the monitors sits a man who is operating the computers before him.
When the door opens, and Smith steps in, the man spins around in his chair. At the sight of Smith he jumps up, exclaiming, "Agent Smith?!? But… but… that cannot be… you’re not an Agent of the Matrix anymore, and you haven’t been for some time! What are you doing here?!” “Well, I’m glad to see you too. Just relax,” Smith replies. He then lunges forward, and digs an object into the chest of the man. “It will all be over soon, nothing to worry about,” adds Smith. A black abyss creeps over the man, slowly engulfing him. However, the darkness soon begins to recede. Smith gawks at it in disbelief, for there was only one other time he witnessed this -- when he tried to infect Neo. “What? This isn’t right… AHHH,” he shouts as he concentrates all his energy. Ever so slowly the darkness proceeds to overtake the poor man.
When the task is completed, a replica of Smith stands where the man once did. The original Smith looks extremely exhausted. Panting, he raises an eyebrow at his duplicate. He then walks in a circle around the new Smith, suspicious of what just happened -- never before had replicating himself drained so much energy from him. Completing his circle, the newly formed Smith looks at his creator from head to toe, and then says, “I like your suit.” The original Smith smiles. Out of breath, he says, “Thank you… We have a lot of work ahead of us,” as he extends a disk-like object in his hand to the other Smith. “Indeed, we do,” replies the new Smith, grinning.

“Where the hell is he,” snorts the guard that allowed Redux into the storage facility. “It’s been at least 15 minutes…” he adds. The guard then rises from his chair, hits the button to open the door beside him, and enters the storage facility. He jogs past the crates of spare ammo and other supplies, and finally reaches the area that the Exanclo is stationed at. Taking a moment to observe the sheer size of the ship, he enters it. “Redux… Hello, buddy, you alright?” he yells, wandering the corridors of the ship. Unexpectedly, Redux jumps out from behind a corner. “Whoa! Oh… It’s you, man, you scared the hell out of me!” shouts the guard in relief. “Yes, just me… Redux,” replies Redux, holding up a duffle bag. “Found what you’re looking for? Good, but what took you so long… Locke will have my ass on a platter if he finds out I let you in here,” states the guard. Redux then exhaustingly says, "I… I had trouble finding it, I misplaced it.” “You OK? You look like you were running from an agent or something,” the guard chuckles as they begin walking back out of the storage facility. Breathing heavily, Redux replies, “I’m just fine.”

Inside the Matrix, we see the cloned Smith. Sitting in his chair, he inserts the disk he received from his clone. After several clicks, a box appears on the monitor. In the box reads the words “Sentinel Intelligence Override.” Several more clicks later and the monitor reads “Uploading New Sentinel Intelligence -- 7 hours remaining.” Smith then gets up from his chair, as the ticker changes to “6 hours and 59 minutes.” He opens the door and disappears into the hallway.

After the Revolution: The Council Is Informed
“Pffft… Man and Machine… Living together in harmony. Il me dégoûte… I won’t have it,” snorts a figure dressed in black. The man’s back is turned to us. He is standing on a beautifully designed balcony, looking upon a mountainous landscape. A woman than steps on to the balcony. “There is something different though… other than the stench of this peace. Something still isn’t right,” adds the man. “Why are you so angry, my love. You knew this would happen sooner or later… The cycle of death and destruction had to end sometime,” says the woman. We can now see that this woman is Persephone, looking dazzling as ever in a burgundy dress similar to that which she wore in Reloaded at the restaurant. “Please, woman. Of course I knew this would happen at some point in time. Though, I’ll be damned if I stand here and do not do anything about it. You can be sure of that,” says the man as he turned his face to Persephone. We see that this dark figure is the Merovingian. Persephone grabs the Merovingian’s arm and rests her head on his shoulder. “Why… You of all must have a reason for what you do. Why can’t you just leave this alone and not try to tamper with this truce, let us see where this peace can take all of us,” pleads Persephone. “Why you ask? Power. As I’ve said before, there are those with power, and those without. I would rather be deleted than live through a time during which machines and human beings are equal. I will not let this prolong… and no one, man nor machine, shall stand in my path,” proclaims the Merovingian. Persephone then utters, “What happened to you? To us? We used to have something so special… I find it hard to believe you are the same man I was with all those years ago.” “S'il vous plaît mme. I have not changed… and I have no time for this. Now come with me to the restaurant, the day has just begun,” replies the Merovingian.

“We have summoned you here this morning to heed the testimony of our own Captain Morpheus,” echoes Councilor Hamman in the crowded meeting room. So much has been discussed in this place of meeting - now the horrible truth of what has lasted for centuries is about to be revealed to Zion. The Councilors are sitting in their usual positions, next to their table in front of the crowd. However, there is an additional entity sitting among the councilors - The 01 Emissary. Morpheus is seated at the table in front of the Councilors. Niobe is seated to his left, and Commander Locke to his right. “This had better be good,” Locke mutters to Morpheus. Morpheus continues to stare straight ahead. “Captain Morpheus had a conversation with the Oracle soon after news of the newfound Peace between man and machine had come. Morpheus, if you would, please,” continues Councilor Hamman. Morpheus stands up and begins to tell what the Oracle struck him with the day before. “Councilors… Captains… Every human being here has no perception of what has actually happened in the past centuries. I am positive the Emissary knows much of what I will tell you. Still though, there is so much we all do not know…” begins Morpheus, as he proceeds to tell the Oracle’s story.
_____________________________________________
It is late morning as Sati opens the refrigerator in the Oracle’s apartment. As she scrounges through the items in it, she says, “Seraph, what do you want to do this afternoon?” “The choice is not mine, but yours, Sati,” Seraph responds. “Can we go for a walk in the park? Then maybe go to the zoo?” questions Sati, innocently. “That sounds like a good idea,” says Seraph, smiling. “We can leave in just a --” Seraph starts to say. “What is it, Seraph?” asks Sati. Seraph then quietly says, “Shhh…. You hear that?” There is a rattling at the front door to the apartment. It sounds like someone is trying to get in. Seraph takes a gun out. He then tells Sati to get into the corner as he prepares to shoot whatever walks through the door. “Seraph, I’m scared,” Sati whimpers while she curls into a ball in the corner. “Don’t be afraid, Sati. And put that gun down, Seraph,” says a familiar voice in the other room. “Oracle?!?” shouts Sati, getting excited. The owner of the voice steps into the kitchen, it is indeed the Oracle.
“Oracle! I am glad you’re back. I thought you said you would be gone for a while,” says Seraph, full of excitement. “I did say that… didn’t I,” says the Oracle, as she sits down on a kitchen chair. “I explained my actions to some of the highest ranking machines. Though some did not approve of my actions, I do feel that they appreciate this peace which I helped plant. In any which case, they allowed me to come back here, for the time being. In a few days they will have a final decision of what shall become of me,” explains the Oracle. “Well I’m glad you’re back, Oracle,” says Sati as she hugs the Oracle. The Oracle hugs Sati back, saying, “I am too darling, I am too…”

“Is this the truth? I cannot bring myself to believe this!” exclaims Councilor West. Morpheus had just finished explaining what the Oracle had told him and everyone’s jaws are on the floor. “It does not matter if you believe this or not, Councilor… That will not change the fact that it has happened,” replies Morpheus. “All that Morpheus speaks of is true. I have been around since almost the beginning of it all, and I can vouch for what he states. What intrigues me, however, is what the Oracle recently did, and why she did it, for I have had little knowledge of this until now,” adds the 01 Emissary. Councilor Hamman stands up, and proclaims, “I am sure this news comes as a shock to all of us. To imagine the continuous cycles of destruction of Zion is rather hard. I do trust however, that it is the truth.” Councilor Hamman looks around - at Morpheus, the crowd, and at the Emissary. He then adds, “I also believe that Neo must to be honored by each and every one of us. His sacrifice ended horrendous cycles of destruction. Selflessly giving his own life, he saved the lives of a quarter million people, and brought peace to a war-torn planet.” Bowing his head, the Councilor gives his last words, “An assembly shall soon be held in the caverns, to bring news of this to all of Zion. I trust to see you all there. Thank you… This meeting is adjourned.”

Thank Agent Drake!
Feedback is certainly welcomed, and I should be posting the next chapter either tonight or tomorrow!
Here's the next chapter:
After the Revolution: A Shot At Love
Chatter fills the Merovingian’s restaurant as the camera pans across the room. The camera then shows the floor and bottom portion of the double doors, which are at the front of the restaurant. The double doors fling open. We now see someone wearing black, leather shoes and black dress pants behind the door. One shoe steps in front of the other as the man continues walking. “Ah, if it isn’t ze Agent Smith! Or… Should I say, Mr. Smith? It has been so long…” welcomes the Merovingian. Smith looks at each of the exiles as he passes them by. “Indeed, it has been long… However, I can still remember chasing down each and every one of you… Ironic, isn’t it, that we’re all here now - like one big family reunion,” Smith says as he smiles.
“I hope you don’t mind if I sit,” says Smith while pulling out a chair. “Of course not… However, as you know, I have a busy schedule. So if we could get to business, please? What do you want?” questions the Merovingian. Smith then replies, “Now, Merovingian… I’m sure you know why I’m here.” Smith is now smiling. “I’m here for the Train Man. That is why I am here, and that is what I’m going to leave with,” adds Smith. The Merovingian looks at Smith and says, “Ah, you seem so sure of yourself.” “Merovingian… It’s not a matter of appearance… it’s a matter of fact,” tells Smith. Raising an eyebrow, the Merovingian then replies, “Yes, well we shall see about that. Perhaps if you can tell me the reason… the why, of your ambition for the Train Man, I might be able to help you.” Smith stares at the Merovingian, and says, “I have devised a new... agenda, after my apparent failure in the previous Matrix. However, it appears that a... road block, has risen in my path. I require assistance from the Train Man in order to complete my task... My... Fate... My... Purpose." The Merovingian glances at his watch. “I’m sorry to ruin your day, but I have no more time for this... The Train Man is mine. I see no reason beneficial to me for you to have him. Now, you’ve wasted enough of my time. If you will excuse me…” He then gets up and says, “Come Persephone.”
Persephone and the Train Man follow the Merovingian towards the double doors. Smith stands up and turns towards the Merovingian. “Merovingian…” says Smith. The Merovingian stands still, as does Persephone and the others. “I’m afraid you… misunderstood what I was telling you. I said that I have come to get the Train Man, and that’s what I’m leaving with…” continues Smith. The Merovingian raises an eyebrow as Smith takes a couple steps closer to them. “Miscommunication is understandable, Merovingian. However, before you leave, I would… love, to formally say goodbye to your wife…” Smith says, as he puts his hand inside his coat. Smith looks at Persephone, and the Merovingian stares at Smith. “Goodbye… My love.” adds Smith. While he says this, he smiles and pulls a gun out of his coat. Everyone in the room begins to scream in panic. All but the Merovingian’s party scramble to the exits. Smith aims the gun at Persephone. In slow motion we see Smith pull the trigger and the bullet bursts out of the gun. This bullet hits Persephone in the chest, and she falls against the wall behind her. Smith shoots her again, hitting her stomach. He pulls the trigger one last time, and Persephone slides down the wall, to the floor. She falls on her side, limp. Blood streaks the wall she was leaning against. In horror, the Merovingian runs up to her lifeless body. “Persephone! Mon amour! Comment peut-ceci être? My dear… My… Love.” utters the Merovingian, as he strokes Persephones cheeks. Realizing she is truly gone, the Merovingian stands up. “Bâtard! You fool… you will pay for this,” he shouts at Smith. The Merovingian looks at the Train Man and says, “You… follow me. The rest of you, destroy him!” At that, the Merovingian opens the double doors. On the other side of the doors is the greeting room of the Merovingian’s mansion with the grand staircase. The Train Man follows the Merovingian past the doors, and the doors shut.

Geez nice! :) And you're right, this story would not make sense without the other part. :)
I wasn't happy with the middle paragraph so I changed it. If you already read it, then you have an idea of some things to come :D
Good work. Eagerly awaiting the next installment :)
As promised, here's the next part of the story. This chapter is mainly action... now bear in mind that there's no way I can truly describe what's happening in fight scenes that are as magnificent as the Matrix. There's no way I can capture every detail and make it sound as good as if you were watching, but I do my best .
Enjoy!
After the Revolution: Don't Touch The Sunglasses
Smith chases after the Merovingian, but the doors close before he can get to them. Smith opens the doors, and all that lies past them is the hallway leading to the elevator in the building. Under his breath, he mutters, “You can’t run for long…” He then steps back into the restaurant and closes the doors. The Merovingian’s exiles look at each other, and then at Smith. They begin to corner him. Smith looks back and says, “Well, you heard him… Come and get me.” At that, the exiles unload all their clips, shooting at Smith. As the bullets fly through the air, we go into bullet time. However, something peculiar happens… When the bullets are about to hit Smith, they make an arch from their straight path and begin to circle around Smith. As more bullets are shot, more swarm Smith, as if bees were encircling his body. The exiles run out of ammo, and they drop their guns, staring in awe at what they see before them. Unlike normal agents, who simply move incredibly fast to dodge the bullets, Smith is performing something more closely to what Neo did. However, instead of simply stopping the bullets in mid-air, he seems to somehow be further controlling their movement. Smith looks back at the exiles and smirks. Suddenly the bullets stop swarming him and are propelled towards the exiles. It is as if Smith is shooting a gun at them. Some exiles dodge as they try desperately to get out of the path of the bullets. Several others take cover behind overturned tables, and some others hide behind a corner with their backs to the wall. After a minute, the bullets stop shooting.
The place seems deserted. Smith looks around, with his Desert Eagle ready to fire. His attention turns to a spoon lying past an overturned table. We see the reflection in the spoon is that of two exiles hiding behind the table. Smith prepares to make his move, when suddenly someone comes from behind the corner, to Smith’s left, and kicks the gun out of Smith’s hand. Smith grabs hold of the exile’s shoulder. As Smith grabs hold of this exile, another vampire-like exile comes out and hits Smith in the back. Smith then flings his elbow backward, hitting the exile behind him, and sending him flying back. Immediately after making contact with the exile behind him, Smith punches the exile he’s holding on to in the gut. This exile falls to the ground, grasping his stomach in pain. Two exiles then come out and catch Smith off guard. They run towards him, ramming him into the wall. The wall crumbles as he is rammed into it. He is now leaning against the crumbled wall, and the two exiles are standing right in front of him. One exile is about to throw a punch at Smith when Smith grabs both of them by their shirts. He tosses them across the room, and stands up. One of the exiles gets up. He jumps into the air, nearly hitting the high ceiling. As he does this, it goes into slow motion. He slowly makes his way towards Smith, with his foot extended. Just before the exile is about to hit the ground, the slow motion stops and Smith parries. The exile misses Smith. Smith gets back up, and as he does so, the exile notices a steak knife lying on the floor and picks it up. The exile takes several swings at Smith, but Smith fends off the attacks. Smith then gets a chance, and kicks the knife out of the exile’s hand. Just then the other three exiles come up to Smith and attack him. Together, they send him sliding across the floor, hitting tables and chairs until he finally hit’s the wall. On the ground, Smith looks towards the exiles and sees that his sunglasses are lying in front of them. One exile steps forward, smiling, and crushes the glasses. This is the last straw for Smith. The exiles can tell he is now pissed off by the expression on his face. Smith gets up, and picks up a couple forks and steak knives lying next to him. He launches them towards the exiles. Three of the exiles jump up high and are now standing on the ceiling. The fourth exile does not make it in time and falls to the ground with two steak knives in his chest.
Smith looks up at the exiles. One of them detaches the chandelier hanging above Smith from the ceiling, and lets it fall. Smith gets out of the way in time. He grunts in anger at the exiles, and suddenly, he begins to start hovering. “No more games… It’s time for you three to join the fate of your friends here, and the fate of all on this planet!” he exclaims. He then flies extremely fast and catches two of the exiles. He takes them back down to the floor, and then holds them out in front of his head as he flies vertically into the ceiling. As the exiles hit the ceiling, they crash through it into the floor above them. Smith continues flying up, and they crash into the next ceiling. Gaining speed, they crash through floor after floor until they reach the roof. Smith takes them up even higher into the sky, and finally lets go of them. The exiles plummet. The camera then shows the floor they were previously fighting in. We see the hole in the ceiling, and suddenly two bodies fall out of the hole and hit the ground. The last exile is now on the floor and stares in amazement at the hole and his fallen comrades. He then starts to head for the door, when we hear a crash. Glass shatters to the floor as Smith zooms into the room. Smith continues flying straight at the exile, and picks up the exile. Without stopping, Smith crashes the exile through the opposite end of the building that he flew in from. Smith continues his course, flying horizontally as he uses the exile’s body as a shield to crash through the building next to them. They crash through three more buildings that are side-by-side before they reach a street. Smith then starts moving downward, digging the exile into a car on the street. The car sails into the building next to it as the exile hits it. Smith continues to drive the exile into the street. Cement chunks fly everywhere. Smith then stops and looks at the lifeless body of the exile. Smith smiles, cracks his neck, and walks away…

Redux inspects the switchblade he is holding. He then digs the blade into the palm of his hand. Blood drops to the floor beneath him. We now see that Redux is in his room, and it is still a mess - just like how he left it before he went into the Matrix that morning. Redux then begins to sharpen the blade. After a minute, he tests the switchblade on himself again. “Perfect…” he says to himself. We notice that there’s some papers lying next to Redux. The camera gives a better shot of them and we can see the heading of the paper read “Map of Zion.” It seems to be a blueprint of part of the city. There were several areas circled, one of which being Morpheus’ place of residence. We also see that some of the Councilor’s offices and apartments are circled. Redux stands up, and grabs the papers. With the switchblade in one hand and the blueprints folded in the other, he makes his way for the door...

After the Revolution: A Change of Plans
A clanking sound echoes through the long hallways of Zion as Redux follows his path. With a cold look on his face, he picks up his pace. The noise of his footsteps grows louder, until he finally reaches a fork in the road. Redux stops and unfolds the map he is carrying. Examining it, he orientates himself with the map, and follows the corridor to his right. As he continues through the corridor, Redux notices someone coming down the hallway. It appears to be a scrawny kid, rolling a cart full of spare ammo and explosives. He is most likely taking them to storage. Seeing this, an idea strikes Redux. He begins to walk slow and casual as he nears the kid.
Redux starts to whistle as he looks at the ceiling. Suddenly Redux is on the ground. The kid is lying next to him, along with various types of ammunition and explosives. The kid scrambles to his feet, with a worried look on his face. “Oh gosh, I’m sorry, Redux… I’m really, really sorry, sir… Here, let me help you up,” the kid begs as he extends a hand to Redux. “Don’t worry… I should have been more… conscious, of my surroundings,” states Redux as he gets to his feet. The kid’s attention then turns to the contents of the boxes he was carrying, skewed across the floor. “Let me help you,” says Redux, bending down to pick up some belts of ammo. The kid does likewise, putting some grenades back into a box. “Thanks Redux… It’s a blessing we didn’t have to use this stuff, right? I mean if Neo hadn’t bargained with the machines, and the Sentinels attacked again. Neo’s a real pal, he saved me ya know. Well, he won’t admit it… but he did,” rambles the kid. Putting the last item in it’s container, Redux replies, “Yes… Mr. And - … I mean, Neo, put up a good fight.” “Yeah, he’s great! Well, I better get this stuff to storage before I get in trouble… Nice talkin’ with ya Redux, and thanks for helping me clean up!” exclaims the kid as he scurries away. Redux nods at the kid, smiling. However, as the kid disappears into the corridor, so does Redux’s smile. Redux begins to grimace as he recalls what the kid had said. ‘Yeah, Neo’s great…’ He shutters at the sound of it. He then pulls out his map and examines it once more. After a moment, he folds the map back up and begins strolling in the direction from which he came. As he starts walking, he tosses a grenade up in his hand a few times. He then tucks it away in a pocket, and continues to his destination…
_____________________________________________
The engineering level is vacant, except for the presence of the utility machines, of course. The vacancy does not last long, however, for a door soon opens. We see Redux step through the door, and up to the balcony where Councilor Hamman and Neo once stood. Redux takes in a deep breath as he surveys the level. He can see several maintenance machines hovering around a much larger machine, seemingly repairing it. He can see the machine which cleanses Zion’s water, and the machine which produces oxygen. Redux waits several minutes to take everything in. He then fixates his attention to the central area of all the machines. He pulls the grenade he stole earlier out of his pocket, and presses a button on it. A red light blinks on the small, round object. The number “10” appears on the display of the grenade. It begins counting down, “9, 8, 7...” Once it reads “5,” Redux hurls the grenade over his head. It sails through the air, heading for the center of the level. A split second later, a glorious, bright, blue light emits from the grenade. The light forms a circle as it expands, getting larger and larger. Several seconds later, a delayed noise sounds off. The noise is deafening, sounding like a loud buzzard. After these few seconds, electrical sparks envelop the machines on the level. Suddenly, everything stops working: The maintenance machines fall from the air, the turbines of the machines stop spinning, and the lights shut off.
A few more seconds past and emergency lights begin to turn on - Zion is dimly illuminated. Redux opens the door behind him and starts running from the scene of his crime. He mistakenly bumps into a man in his hurry, and they both topple over. “What the hell happened? What are you doing down here?” the man questions, grabbing a hold of Redux. The area is too dimly lit for Redux to get a good look at the man’s face. He pulls the switchblade out, and stabs the man in the chest. The man releases Redux and clutches his chest. Redux then stabs the man again, gets back up, and continues running. However, too much time has passed. A team has already been sent down to see what happened. Redux can see them coming, and takes cover in the shadows. The group of men consist of about 8 security personnel and several engineers. They unknowingly pass Redux, and stumble upon the man lying ahead. “Redux… It was Redux…” utters the man, using his last breaths. “Keep a look out for Captain Redux,” shouts a guard into his radio. One of the men attempts to help the man Redux stabbed, while the others search for clues as to what happened. Another one of the men treads exceedingly close to Redux… Too close. Redux leaps from the shadows and grabs the man. He brings his switchblade to the neck of the man. “Whoa, easy there, buddy,” exclaims one of the guards. “Yes… ‘Easy‘… Let’s make this ‘easy’ and no one will get hurt… Then again, it would be so ‘easy’ to slit his throat,” tells Redux. Another guard takes a step forward and says, “Come on now, we don’t want anyone to get hurt.” Redux then replies, “Ah… But I do.” He begins to crack a smile, when someone appears from the shadows behind him. The man is another guard. He creeps behind Redux, who doesn’t notice him. The guard then bashes the back of Redux’s head, and everything goes black…

Several hours later, Redux comes to. His hands are cuffed together. He appears to be in some sort of prison. There is a table and chairs in the middle of the room, and a bed off to the side. Dazed and confused, Redux gets out of the bed. He heads for the door and tries to open it, but has no luck. He begins to pound on the door. After what seemed like an eternity, he stops pounding. He solemnly walks to the table, and sits down.
About 10 minutes later, the door swings open. Morpheus, Councilor Hamman, Commander Locke, and several body guards step in. “What the hell did you do!” screams Locke. “Nearly every utility machine is knocked out and one man is dead… You better have a damn good explanation for this, Captain,” continues Locke. “Yes… We have engineers repairing the machines right now, hopefully most machines will be operational within the next couple hours…” further explains Councilor Hamman. “In a couple hours, gentlemen, the utility machines will be the least of your worries…” replies Redux, calmly. Morpheus stares at Redux, trying to read his expression. Morpheus then says, “Tell me, what do you mean by that? The engineers have reported that it was an EMP that disrupted the machines… Captain, I must assert myself… What were you doing when this all happened?” Morpheus interrogates. Redux looks at each of the men standing before him, without saying a word. “Answer, goddamnit!” shouts Locke. Again, no reply. “Easy, Commander. Let’s leave him be… Give him some time to recollect what happened,” says Councilor Hamman. With that, the men file out of the room…

“Are the cookies ready?” asks Sati. The Oracle opens the oven door slightly, and inspects the cookies. “Just a couple more minutes, honey,” replies the Oracle, smiling at Sati. “I hope these turn out as good as the last batch,” adds Sati, innocently. The Oracle motions for Sati to come over to her. She gives Sati a hug. Just then, the phone rings. All three of them - The Oracle, Seraph, and Sati - look at each other. Seraph then gets up and puts his hand on the phone. After the fourth ring, he picks it up. “Hello,” says Seraph. “Ah, Seraph… My little Judas…” replies the voice on the other end. “Merovingian?” questions Seraph, astonishingly. The voice then says, “You were always sharp… But please, let us put our pasts behind us for now… I have some… Business, to discuss, with the fortune teller. We must meet, very soon…”

wow... nice story...
i love that smith playing with the bullets part...
very amusing for the smith's part...
I THOUGHT THE SMITH IS GONE..how come hes back...>!!!
Lol, Smith is back because he's the absolute coolest character ever, and I couldn't bear to see him go... So I came up with a little story to see what would happen if he somehow came back :D
continue with that story...please!!!!!!!!!!!
WOW!!! I love your story!! I wish I'd stumbled upon it earlier. Please believe me when I say mine was in no way based/copied from yours, though. I can't wait to see what you write next; your style absolutely rocks :D
THanks for the great read!
peace, friends
Thanks for the enthusiasm guys - I'll try to get the next chapter up sometime this week. It's been a while since I've written a chapter, but with the holidays and everything I've been a bit busy. That on top of me not knowing exactly how to end this beast is delaying it.
I believe I know where I want to go with this now though, there should only be 3 or 4 more chapters... And don't sweat it psychik, you're story's pretty damn good too!
NOTE: Be sure to read my ENTIRE post before you reply :D
"We have incoming, sir," a lieutenant said to Commander Locke. Three hours later the last piece of concrete forming the roof of Zion fell to the ground. The entire city lay in ruins. Not one human was spared. The setinels had swiftly and easily devoured the city.
After finishing their work in Zion, the Setinels were set for a new target: The Machine City. As they headed aboveground, the Oracle sat with Smith in her apartment. They were watching the news, which was airing headline coverage on the an epidemic sweeping the world - It seems like people were just dying spontaneously, for no reason. Healthy people were dropping dead in the streets, much like how people lifelessly fell to the floor when the connection was severed in the real world. "Your sentinels are doing marvels, Smith," said the Oracle. "Thank you, Mom," replied Smith.
Soon the setinels reached the machine city, ripping it to shreds. Programs began to disappear in the Matrix, for the sectors in the machine city which their programs ran from were burning to the ground. Soon the TV channels went dead - there was no one alive to keep them running. The Oracle then smiled, and turned to Smith. She cocked her head, and Smith suddenly began to emit rays of light from his body. "What the... What's happening to me?" he shouted. "My dear son... Appears that I've had an agenda of my own," the Oracle replied, smirking. Smith raised an eyebrow, and added, "You sidistic *****... I like you." With that, he exploded.
The Oracle sat there, knitting... knitting and laughing, as she was the only form of life left on the entire planet.

GOTCHA! lol
Don't worry, I wouldn't end the story that way! Would be interesting though, if the Oracle was manipulating everything for her personal gain.
I've been really busy lately.... However, Christmas vacation is coming soon, so expect to hear more (of the real story) as Christmas draws nearer :D.
HAHAHAA!! *rof*
Had me concerned/confused for a moment there. Enjoy the break; I can't wait to read the real stuff :D
Wow! I have totally enjoyed what I have read of your story so far! I can't wait to read more...MORE!
Good so far. Have you got writers block?
Man these are greate stories, I cant belive I read the whole thing im usually not bothered to read long posts, but hell they should make comics outa these, and the name you got is perfect "After the Revloution".........
I LOVE this story! This could actually be the next sequel..........
I like the way that it doesn't follow the hero but follows the villain!
Keep it up, I'm dying to read the end.
yo dude what's the matter r u bit stuck on what to write.
Thanks for all the great reviews guys! As you've probably noticed, I've been away for a while. Ever since the new year I've only been coming to this site a couple times a week, and this story got pushed to the back of my mind. However, the release of Revolutions has rekindled my spirit for the Matrix.
We're driving to Florida for spring break, so seeing as how it will be a 27 hour car ride (that's only going there, not coming back lol), I'm going to try to finish this story. So, hopefully when we get back at the end of next week I'll have a closure for this story. I'm glad so many people are enjoying this story! Take care!
Well, as I promised, I'm gonna be finishing the fanfic within the coming weeks. Check out the second part of the story in the thread titled "After the Revolution: Part 2"
