An Unbeatable Game?

neuromancer314

the purpose of this game is to have zionists end the matrix and machinists to help the matrix thrive correct? if this is the case then how can the zionists ever win? if the zionists won then the game would be..over. and can an MMO ever really be over? it seems like being a zionist would be a pointless yet noble cause...

i think the point of the game is more of gaining friends. there really isn't any winning. like when we used to play diablo 2 expansion, we beat the game but we kept playing. trying to find the best stuff. trying to get to lvl 99 and hanging out with your friends online. its an escape from the real world where you can do karate. either that or the game ends when noone plays anymore.
neuromancer314

yeah i guess youre right, but diablo kinda had like a set story line you know? so that once you beat it you could do it again or whatever, but will the matrix online be a linearish game with a giant end game goal or is it gonna be more like a hangout place to live in

Who knows.. Man oh man, Diablo 2.. Brings back some memories especially in the Cow Levels. Hehehe.
Akaro

i think the game should have missions, of course different missions for zionists and machines
Crusader

Each month an new chapter... Developed by the brothers... imagine that you have 500 zionists and 20 rebels on one server... Try making a storyline out of that :D.

By the way, about how many players per city (server) are we talking about, I mean the screenshots show a HUGE city...
neuromancer314

well rumors are that theyre taking about a thousand for beta testing so probably somewhere around there
HomoUniversalis

impressive, however I am not sure whether the bandwidth (server side) can handle this... Anyone got inside on this?

(btw diablo 2 is one of my favorite online games *CovetedOne if u play d2

As someone who plays Everquest, here's what that game is like: Popular servers commonly have upwards of 2500 people on them (from back when they used to actually give out the server populations online - they don't do that anymore). There are 40-some EQ servers, and they claimed over the summer to have had over 100,000 people online at one time.

Yes, they use a LOT of bandwidth down in San Diego.

For TMO, I would imagine they're looking at 50,000 or so subscribers, and maybe 10,000 online at once at peak times, then ramp up from there. That would be my take on it, but who knows? TMO could be like EQ and be stupidly successful beyond their wildest dreams, and all of a sudden have to cope with 50,000-60,000 people online at once. Star Wars Galaxies hit the shelves and had upwards of 300,000 subscribers within a month, if I'm not mistaken.

I doubt this will be a 'winnable" game. I've been playing EQ for 2.5 years, with no end in sight.

this game is sort of going to be like Everquest, an online game that your not supposed to be able to beat. For the ones who have played Everquest, you know what I mean...
