Revolutions, was it all it could be?

Matrixio

This thread is for You, the hardcore Matrix fan who went and saw The Matrix: Revolutions after seeing M1 and M2 who knows how many times, having spent late hours discussing far out theories on fora like this and having all sorts of expectations for the final part of the trilogy.

So - were you disappointed or happy? Surprised or was the movie exactly as you expected? What parts of the build-up were successfully concluded and which were not?

I'll start by saying the Smith/Neo fights progressed fine in quality and intensity from M1 to M2. But in M3 it just flopped. Overkill. Too much power. Hugo overacted in the crater scene. It got silly. Tried to squeeze some bullet time in with that slomo punch in the rain. Still no good!

:(

i founded revolutions a good film, but with a dumb ending. you not getting told if neo if dead or alive.

but overal The Matrix, and the matrix reloaded were much better, then revolutions.

The Zion battle lived completely up to my expectations. It was grand! How scary were those swarms of sentinels as they flooded into Zion?

Agreed, I think throughout the whole of M3 Hugo overacted his part substantially which is a shame because he built up such a powerful character in the first 2 movies.

As for the Neo/Smith fights i think the fight in M3 had too much special effects and not enough hand to hand combat.

But the love stories? They seemed to go nowhere?
Trinity & Neo: Died.
Niobe & Morpheus: Never really took off.
Zee & Link: Survived. That's about all that relationship boils down to.
Ghost: Remember Trinity in ETM, "We've got to find you a girlfriend one of these days.". Sorry, no dice!
Persephone & Merovingian: Back together on business agreement. What we saw before was obviously just a game...
Kamala & Rama-Kandra: PLEASE. "Love is just a word." Gotta do better than that to keep your woman happy, Rama...

did you expect them to go on a triple date out in the woods on a picnic while they discuss their love for one another? maybe you should read romance novels, or perhaps you already do....
icy toast

I think that after the first films it was damn near impossible to live up to that greatness but all in all i think the W brothers did a pretty nice job. Especially after what people said was a sloppy ending for reloaded (they were supposed to be one movie, but 4 hours is too long? :( )

I have to say the Zion battle was spectacular BUT the film didnt have enough matrix themes for me...like bullet time and as i came out of the movie i was very disappointed with the lack of hand to hand fighting in that movie.. I was expecting Neo and Smith to do less flying and more on the ground fighting with wicked slow motion kicks and stuff....the film was satisfiying .but..just could of been better.

i like to think of the matrix serires as if you've got 3 papers to write in a week the first one you do is always your best work the second ones good yet not as good as the first and the thrid well $hit you only got 2 hours before class better come up with something.

now i'd hate to say that the w brothers are in this for the money but they must have realized they could have put anything out there as a third movie and still had a loyal fanbase who was going to see the third one just to complete the story.

maybe i do really need to see it again to grasp it's greatness, but i highly doubt a second viewing will make this let down feeling go away. i'm in no way bashing the movie it wasn't as bad as alot say, but i think i do speak for most when i say it was kind of a let down. when it was over i was actually mad("that was it!"), then that feeling went away to a little sad("wow that was it...") to finally not knowing what to feel("i guess that was it."). personaly i can't think of a better ending, yet i feel as if there is some better ending out there.

i don't know if the w brothers painted themselves in a corner with the plot or what. maybe they got burned out with and would rather spend there matrix money on a beach somewhere then sit holed up in a room editing and reviseing. who knows but we all know this is diffently not what we all had expected.

to this day i still watch the first one sometimes i fast fowad to watch the fight scenes before going to the gym (do jo one is my fav) other times i actually just like to go back and listen to the more dramatic scences(got to love smiths virus speech) and can anyone say when they get the REV dvd they're going to go back and watch it 20-30 times? maybe 5-10 but not 20-30...

maybe REV was all that it could be,yet it was far from what we all expected it was going to be.
