I've just come home from watching the final matrix movie and can't get the feeling of dissapointment out of my head. The following is a little of what I found to be good and bad in the movie...
DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE *NOT* SEEN THE MOVIE OR IT WILL RUIN IT FOR YOU!!!!
* I found the movie to be extremely depressing (not that that should be a reason to dislike a movie) for many reasons.
* The 3rd movie based too much emphasis of action sequences than the actual storyline.
* I found Trinity's death scene to be in bad taste. Why did they have to kill her? And with Neo in a blindfold it made the whole situation rather pathetic.
* Morpheus....Who? oh yeah the General-type person from the first 2 movies. He hardly did anything in the 3rd movie (hence the visible weight gain on his face) Was hoping for a bit more of a leading role from the big man.
* Smith's acting in this movie just didn't seem to be in line with the other 2 movies.....I can't pin point it but it didn't seem to match the character he was in the first 2 movies.
* Neo's powers in the real world (as question in another thread) aren't explained.
* Why did they even bother with the train station/merovingian subplot?? It went no where (as far as I could see).
* As much as the final Neo/smith showdown was grand and all it lacked the (pardon the pun) punch of other fight sequences in the first 2 movies with again too much emphasis on special effects rather than hand to hand combat.
* Neo's death wasn't in my opinion the best ending for 'the one'...I was expecting him to merge with the machines and somehow become half machine, half man or something to that effect.
* The relationship between Niobe and Morpheus is never resolved it just hangs there waiting for something to happen.
* Why did the oriacle say they'll see him again one day.... Is she implying that the sequence (emergence of the one) will happen again?
On a good note I did enjoy the BANE/SMITH subplot although I was hoping for something a bit longer on that regard.
I know this looks like I'm slogging the movie off (indeed it looks like it) but there are too many unsolved puzzles here. Usually there are some in a storyline as in depth as this but when you get too much unexplained happenings in a movie you kind of feel short changed. Anyway Feel free to agree/disagree/critisize all you want I'd be interested in some feedback......
