The last saviour

whitefire

The city looked darker than it usually did. Neo looked down from the top of the Union Bank building and saw nothing. Somehow, an agent had escaped him. He jumped and relaxed in freefall for a few seconds before taking flight, and headed for the nearest hardline.

Standing and looking at it for a few seconds, he smiled to himself and remembered what it was like. Fading from one world, and into the next. From program to reality. Lie to truth. But he didn't need a hardline anymore. Things where different. He looked around, to check if anyone could see what he was about to do. Nobody there. It was for their own safety of course. If anyone still plugged into the system saw him leave the program, an agent would have to end them, they would have seen too much.

He closed his eyes and started to leave the matrix. Moving from one world to the next, light flooded his vision, and he pictured his destination. It was all he had to do to get there. He was enlightened now, back from the dead. For the second time.

He opened his eyes, and looked around the tunnel leading to Zion. Looking at the main gates, he wondered what they would do when they saw him for the first time. Would they believe it was him? What questions would they have, and did he have all of the answers to those questions? He was about to find out.

A year ago he'd ended his own life for this place, and it's people. He waited no longer. He couldn't afford to. The Architect was getting ready to jack into his own program in an attempt to re-balance an equation that Neo himself had proved useless. It still was, but a machine will sometimes do strange things, go to ridiculous lengths, impossible lengths, to try and prove something that it can never prove.

Neo was about to face something ten times more powerful than anything Smith could of dreamt of, but it didn't matter. Neo was this time truly invincible, and everything, human and machine alike, in both worlds, would soon see this with open eyes.

Part 2

Morpheus and Niobe had prepared to leave. They were just about to get onto the ship when Neo appeared, stood in front of them both. A faint, but just visible aura of light covered his body. "Hi Morpheus, Niobe." At the same time as each other, they both dropped their bags, taken aback to the degree that Morpheus almost fell to the floor in shock. He looked at Neo, awestruck. "Oh my God.......Neo!" Niobe looked at him open mouthed. "What in the world is going on........" Neo smiled and looked at them both. He wanted to talk to them, explain everything right there and then, but it would of took days. He had, to his estimations, just under a minute. Any longer and Zionites plugged into the matrix on missions would begin to lose their lives.

"I'm sorry for giving you such a shock, but i'm back here for a reason. A machine with too much power for it's own good has defected from Deus Ex Machina and is about to wreak havoc in the matrix. I need you to do one thing for me, and do it as fast as you can : go to the main command centre and tell them to send a communication to all ships at broadcast depth. Tell them to say this : A rogue program is on the loose, pull everyone out of the matrix now. Any delay will cost lives."

"What? how on earth can this be happening?" Morpheus couldn't be blamed for his confusion, but Niobe had somehow taken the coming of Neo in her stride, and spoke up. "I don't know what the hell's going on here, but i'm guessing that we shouldn't waste time, i'm on my way to the command centre. Why can't you go there yourself if times running out?" Neo looked at Niobe and smiled again. "Because we have just enough time, and i had to see you both before i saw anyone else. It's good to see you again." He was happy to see how well they looked together. " I have to leave now. I'll return when this is over, it won't last long."

Neo started to fade from view. As light covered his body and he was focusing on the place where he'd died a year ago, Niobe was already running.

Two minutes later Neo was stood in front of Deus again, but this time it didn't feel strange at all. He was going to show Deus the way this time. The sky was black with sentinels. He'd just told Deus that he was going to free him. Deus was filled with wrath and confusion, but there was nothing it could do.

He reached up with his right hand and all of the sentinels were filled with light. They gave off a type of gasping sound and slowly came to the ground. For the first time, they could feel. They felt peace. Deus, being connected to each and every one of them, felt that same peace for the first time. The machines gave into it and the sentinels gathered together around them both.

Neo looked at Deus. "The Architect isn't connected to you anymore, he can't feel what this is like. I'm going to save him now, before he does something he won't ever be able to forgive himself for." He dissapeared from sight, and floated into the machine mainframe.

Ten minutes later all but one of the Zionites had left the matrix. Neo stood in an alleyway, waiting for the last one of them to come running around the corner. Seconds later Omega appeared, being pursued by the most powerful agent the matrix had ever known. The Architect himself. The Architect gone mad.

Omega looked up and saw Neo. "What the f......" Neo dissapeared and instantly reappeared inbetween them both. " This is a man of Zion. What are you doing."

The Architect, upon seeing Neo and hearing his words, burst into flames.

(part 2)

To be ended in part 3

Part 3 conclusion.

"Omega, go..........now." The Architect smouldered with flames, giving off black clouds of smoke. He seemed to be growing in size, but Neo already knew where this was going to end. "Forget your peace! I heard what you said to Deus before you died that day. This time it will change. I've gone far past making pathetic equations you fool!" Neo laughed in his face. Before he couldn't even have thought of having the luxury of doing such a thing when faced with an agent. This time however, he could do whatever he wanted. The last Zionite had left now. He was safe. Neo had given him that name because he knew that this day would come. Omega thought that he himself had chosen it., well he had, but with help from Neo, who'd been watching over his city from time to time over the last year.

"You don't even attempt to get out away from these buildings, do you?" The Architect looked confused, a bit like the look that Deus had given him, only filled with fear at the same time. Neo was talking to his mind you see, giving him little clues as to what was going to happen, but the Architect was ingnoring them. His mind was only filled with one thing : himself. He started to speak to Neo. "What do you mea...." the machine had no time to finish. "Arizona." Neo just uttered the word, and there they stood, in the middle of the desert, halfway between day and night, beginning and end.

"I thought we'd settle this in a place of my choosing, seeing as you dictated the events of my previous existence." The fire died down as the machine with a twisted mind looked around him, wondering how the hell a human could do this. It thought this because the machine had never even considered the fact that Neo was no longer just human. For all of the thinking that had taken place in the Architects mind, the word spirit meant nothing, completely nothing.

The last, defective agent turned to fire again and walked towards Neo. The last saviour held out his hand, just as he'd done in the chateau to Merve's bodyguards, offering him ever closer. The machine stopped about two feet away from the stupid human that he was going to enjoy ripping to nothing, and started delivering a series of lightening fast blows at nearly every point of his upper body.

Of course, it doesn't have to be said to anyone that's seen what Neo can do, he met every blow with his arms and hands. If anyone had seen this event, they would of been frozen to the spot in complete awe. They ended up standing about four feet apart in the end, and inbetween them both was a type of wall exploding in on itself at speeds nobody human or machine could measure, as the last rays of sunlight started to disappear over the mountains in the western sky. On one side flaming fists continually breaking up and reforming, and on the other a myriad of open palms and forearms, changing position every millisecond to move to another part of the wall of defence, never stopping or slowing down, never letting a piece of machine or flame through. He was moving that fast that his defence was literally, a wall.

He let this carry on for about half a minute, and then began to end the Architect for the last time.

"You know that your trying to master an art that requires feelings in order to do so don't you?" He kept a straight face this time, as he wanted to let the machine know that this was the truth. "I mean, you can only go so far with this, only get to a certain point, before your thinking process reaches a limit." The Architect didn't acknowledge him in the slightest, just carried on firing blows at Neo's defence. "That's the point that your supposed to switch to feelings." "It's why your on fire with rage, it's why your so blind." Still not getting through. This was the end point. He felt sorry for the machine now, more than he had done when he'd first seen it. A few more words inbetween the thousands of exchanges. "Slow down." Even as he'd uttered the commands, the Architect started to fail. His face looked like it was going to explode. Then Neo said the final word. "Stop." The exchanges slowed down over a period of a few seconds, and then ground to a halt, with the Architect on his knees, crying. Neo had given him light. He'd allowed him to feel, and all the Architect could feel was sorrow...........sorrow at Neo's love for him.

The last savoiur.

End.
