M1: Great film. Perfect. Birth of a wonderful story.
M2: Good film. Interesting new characters introduced. Deeper delvings into the 'secrets'. Many questions raised. Good action. Fascinating penultimate scene (Arch and Neo). The life of a good story.
M3: Parrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp! New INTERESTING characters seemingly forgotten about. Little extension given to the questions raised (Why raise them in the first place?). Lack of focus on the main players from the previous movie. Morpheus? "So...I press this button?" Merovingian? "I have your boyfriend. You can't have him. Oh! A gun! You can have him". Seraph? "I have no wings...eh, that's it". The Arch? "Huh? What did I say in the last movie? 'Ergo', 'vis a vis'? This time I'll just say "Trust me". It's easier to understand". Persephone? "Look at my voluptuous breasts". The list goes on. The Death of an over-reaching story that wasn't the sum of it's previous parts. Cop out.
it's sad that's the way they ended the trilogy.
welcome to idiotville, population OU...
seriously, how hard to you try to be an ignorant ass?
U do not need to be a genius or even a have a high post count to realise that Revulsions sucked. To admit that you do not like M3 does not mean u hate the previous movies and it does NOT give you (Terikan) the right to call some1 an idiot. Act your post count not your IQ. Treat others with respect, dude.
There was nothing to understand in M3...just a load of loose ends to be disregarded. By not answering th equestions that were raised in M3, does not make you think more...It just makes you think they were pointless...or that the Wach's simply forgot they asked them in the first place. I watched Revolutions again the other day, and realised it's even worse than I first thought. THERE'S NOTHING THERE!
I meant the questions in M2...there weren't any questions in M3...just big, gaping plot holes.
it seems to me like alot of people have come up with some preety good quesitons from revolution(revulsions oh so mean it hurts)
and there are so many posts going on its hard 2 keep track of
try to keep in mind that it is one full story not 3 separate ones
anywaz im sorry u didnt like the movie, i loved it on so many levels
I've just come home from watching the final matrix movie and can't get the feeling of dissapointment out of my head. The following is a little of what I found to be good and bad in the movie...
DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE *NOT* SEEN THE MOVIE OR IT WILL RUIN IT FOR YOU!!!!
* I found the movie to be extremely depressing (not that that should be a reason to dislike a movie) for many reasons.
* The 3rd movie based too much emphasis of action sequences than the actual storyline.
* I found Trinity's death scene to be in bad taste. Why did they have to kill her? And with Neo in a blindfold it made the whole situation rather pathetic.
* Morpheus....Who? oh yeah the General-type person from the first 2 movies. He hardly did anything in the 3rd movie (hence the visible weight gain on his face) Was hoping for a bit more of a leading role from the big man.
* Smith's acting in this movie just didn't seem to be in line with the other 2 movies.....I can't pin point it but it didn't seem to match the character he was in the first 2 movies.
* Neo's powers in the real world (as question in another thread) aren't explained.
* Why did they even bother with the train station/merovingian subplot?? It went no where (as far as I could see).
* As much as the final Neo/smith showdown was grand and all it lacked the (pardon the pun) punch of other fight sequences in the first 2 movies with again too much emphasis on special effects rather than hand to hand combat.
* Neo's death wasn't in my opinion the best ending for 'the one'...I was expecting him to merge with the machines and somehow become half machine, half man or something to that effect.
* The relationship between Niobe and Morpheus is never resolved it just hangs there waiting for something to happen.
* Why did the oriacle say they'll see him again one day.... Is she implying that the sequence (emergence of the one) will happen again?
On a good note I did enjoy the BANE/SMITH subplot although I was hoping for something a bit longer on that regard.
I know this looks like I'm slogging the movie off (indeed it looks like it) but there are too many unsolved puzzles here. Usually there are some in a storyline as in depth as this but when you get too much unexplained happenings in a movie you kind of feel short changed. Anyway Feel free to agree/disagree/critisize all you want I'd be interested in some feedback......
Im new here. ive seen the first 2 matrix but not the last 1 iw as surprised at wat you sed i didnt think neo and trinity would die,,, im dissappointed in what you said about it as i thought it would of been best of all 3 but i havnt seen it.
im nikki by the way lol
1st Why is this called 'the matrix explained 3.0'
its nothing more than your opinion....
2nd if you dont like the movie you dont .. doesnt mean everybody didnt understand it and didnt like it couse you apperantly didnt
If everything is shown in a perfect little box then what is the point of thinking?
there are so many loose ends in revolutions to make people think. the brothers wer sick of the chick-flicks that anyone with a single diget IQ could sit through and stare at the screen. ALL THE LOOSE ENDS ARE IN THERE TO GET PEOPLE LIKE US TO SIT DOWN AT FORUMS AND TALK ABOUT THESE LOOSE ENDS
Loose ends don't encourage any sort of useful thinking. Just guesswork for the most part.

Well I put a banner stating 'IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE DO NOT READ ON!' so I can't be blamed for this one! lol
Hey ! After reading tons of opinions and philosophy treads of the Matrix (And it's worth it for me even if it comes in a black box) I understand better the movie. Try to do the same, cuz I first saw it I felt so depressed ... and now many things are making sense and I'm sure the Trilogy is the best thing I've ever seen in a "black box" ...
Hey all, Noob to the site, anyway, heres my thoughts
Almost all the big budget people are gone and this could go many ways. A-Matrix Series (thank you WB) B-Matrix 4:Reserection C-Matrix Cartoon.
They could even bring Neo back in a different body, since what happened happened at the end of the Super Burley fight.
Maybe I'm wrong, theres just way to many loose ends to call it a finale.
How would you feel if the Oracle had said, "Seraph means angelic. Merovingian means that he is a descendant of Christ and in some ways the Devil and Hades. His wife, Persephone is a greek goddess who was stolen by Hades and forced to live with him in the underworld. Oh and by the way, the reason you can stop the sentinels is because the A.I. is so technologically advanced nowadays that those who touch the source can remotely control all of the machines and programs when need be..."
Why do you need everything explained to you as if you were a four year old? If you didn't like the way it ended, then go find a movie with three different alternative endings, maybe one of them will be to your liking.

Correct me if I'm wrong but it IS free speech in here is it not? If you think it's bad now Valasher you'd better get used to it because the controversy over M3 is not going to end for a while. Maybe some people need things to be explained. Not everyone picks up on everything 1st time round (I know I haven't I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have either in some way, shape or form). Maybe some patience wouldn't go astray eh?
Okay, sorry, let me rephrase it. How would you feel if they had explained everything out in detail and answered all of your questions so that you don't have any more ever again? You would feel even more empty than people are claiming to now. When you watch the movie over again, you will realize that things make much more sense. It's just as good as Reloaded, because you still have so many questions. This way, your questions aren't all gone, if they were you would turn your head away from the thought processes of watching the Matrix. You would stop coming to these boards after a while and the Matrix would become a distant memory. But now the answers are there, we as a collective community have to try and figure them out. That's the fun of the Matrix. That's why we come here. I'm very happy that Revolutions didn't answer things in the way I thought it would, because I wouldn't be here talking about the 'why' anymore.
I don't feel that there was much for us to learn from M3 because most of the 'learning' stuff was in the first film. The other two films where more of a myth in the sense that they represented mysteries of the collective unconscious. I know that questions got left unanswered (many of them) but that's the story that they made, the vision that they saw. I'm not trying to stick up for the films, just giving you my viewpoint.
Oh, and hi to all here, yes, i'm a newbie, but no, i won't be one of the idiotic annoying newbies that seem to have joined every now and then at this forum.
Hope i can be of help in this place.
Eon.
I didn't go to M3 expecting all the questions answered...I was just hoping that the previous film's philosophy and secrets might have some relevance in the final film. Unfortunately (for me anyway), it just seemed like they were disregarded. How can a character like The Merovingian, who played a prominant role in Reloaded have a total of about 2 minutes screen time...Why focus so much on Morpheous to give him little more than a sidekick role in the final piece?
These are just some examples of major characters being ignored...The biggest travesty though is the plot itself...it lacks depth and just seemed rushed to fit in all the sfx set pieces. An underlying quality of the other 2, was that they blended with the plot to further it and create greater understanding...M3 was like fair-ground ride...quite fun, but little depth.
I don't buy the point of view that nothing was answered so that it could be discussed...that's an easy way of coping out...I just think The Wachs couldn't come up with the answers...or they were influenced by the studio to forget the philosophical grand-standing and give them an action movie.
Sad, but true.

Agreed, you'll hear no argument there. It's always good if a story completes itself while still leaving a little mystery for us to ponder. But my prob. is with the fact that (from my perspective) they left too many unanswered questions, hence why some people may feel 'short changed'. People can delve as deep into theories as they like but the fact is that for the majority the ending didn't justify itself enough for everyone to accept 'THE END' (in movie terms anyway).

Yes, sad but true! The funny thing is, even if the movie was way better, I STILL would have bought any new anime, comic, dvd special edition, etc. But after M3, I will not. I did not want the bros to xplain evry thing, just wanted a better, more riveting story. Better acting, more filosofy... Oh what's the point? It (M3) is just another hollywood movie.
I think it shows how lacking in points of debate M3 was, when people are on this site discussing the relevance of Neo's satorial garb...A phucking tie is not a reasonable point of interest for debate!
