The end of M2 leaves Neo and SmithInfectedGuy lying near to each other wired to each systems.
Wouldn't it be interesting if the final fight for dominance between the two happened through the virtual connection between the two in a dreamstate, given that they are both connected to wires?
The street fight between them shows Smith fighting Neo surrounded by lots of Smiths. Not sure why they are doing a 1vs1 fight.
Maybe noticing that tidbit of info is not relevant, but I thought it odd to show them both wired next to each other at the end of M2.

I CANNOT wait for that fight. Looks AWESOME. Smith was always my favorite Agent. And now that he free and can make all these copies of himself... wee! :)
Don't know why they showed them next to eachother at the end. Movie needed a cliffhanger, guess they thought this was the best way? Beats me, but all I know is that Smith is really screwed things up for the Zion people in the real world.
I think if Smith kills neo, Smith could move on. He's just really hung up on Neo, I would think he would be thanking him for freeing him. :)

Smith is pissed because Neo took away purpose from Smith. And Smith said that everyone is here for a purpose, and (basically), without purpose there's nothing.
What looks very interesting in the M3 trailor is Agent Smith being able to fly. Im looking for them to have an all out brawl fight scene in the air..
Can't wait to see how Neo will end up taking down the best damn bad guy there ever was.... Agent Smith!
I don't think that Smith's purpose was to be an Agent, his purpose is to try to stop Neo. I think that if anything, Smith is happy that because of Neo, he has now grown stronger and now has the ability to dublicate himself. Smith not being an agent was forshadowed in M1. This is when Smith was trying to break the code in Morpheus' head and he took off his earplug and was telling Morpheus how he wanted to be free, thus missing the whole lobby scene when Neo and Trinity just killed! When I saw Smith take off his earplug in M1, I knew that it would lead to something big in the future, i was just not sure what after Neo destroyed in at the end of the first movie.
as we learnd from the agent training program in m1, we must kill the agents 2 win the war because theyr the gate keepers, they hold the keys ect.
i think the final fight between neo and smith will decide the fate of the world
but he isn't an agent anymore...:confused:
The agent's purpose was to get the access codes to Zion's mainframe for destruction. Interestingly, Smith had already begun acting independently of the rest of the agents in M1. Remember the Morpheus interrogation scene? Smith sent the other agents out (to their surprise) and told Morpheus he was sick of human stench, sick of the Matrix. Hehe, a program tired of its routine.
By this time, Neo and Trinity are being catapulted up the elevator shaft. When the other agents came back in they asked Smith "What are you doing?" That seemed odd coming from a single-minded, single purpose program.
I also think that smith will be the key to saving the people in the matrix.
