Zion destroyed more than once?

In Reloaded the Architect makes mention of Zion having been destroyed before. There's a quote about how 'efficient' the machines have gotten at doing that....how is that possible? I can understand multiple instances of the Matrix getting restarted based on the equation of Neo and Smith balancing out...but where do multiple instances of Zion fit in?

I suppose it could be argued that Zion just rebuilt itself up over time, but there is no record of this? Largely inconsequential to the story but it eats at me a little...thoughts appreciated...thx

PS...could Zion also be part of the Matrix...and we still haven't seen outside of it yet? <wink>

The Arcitect tries to make a perfect Matrix using efficiency etc

The Oracle is his opposite. To keep balance she tries to cause disturbances. She frees the first few ppl who then create Zion.

what yall both are mentioning could also mean that theryll be more matrixes if you really think about it with an all new cast!!

Will Zion be destroyed again. They made peace but I'm not sure. All the other times they didn't aviod the war but the one never made it to the city or even wanted to. He took the right door.
