I've always thought it was cool how they blended the old with the new in the matrix. It's 1999 with all of it's technology, yet you see everywhere things like 1965 Lincolns, TV sets from the 50's, and Mouse had tommy guns! But it's only ever been just that; cool. Has anyone ever found any significance to this? Any purpose/reason/etc.?

That's a good observation Dadumafugu. There is an explanation though. It's all the Architect's fault. The first Matrix he designed was flawless, sublime. After it failed, he "redesigned it based on your history." It's no surprise that the objects span years of our history. Nice catch!
