Choice

I still dont understand how Neo can make a choice. The oracle said "Youve allready made the choice, now you have to understand it." But like Neo said If you allready now im going to take it how can i make a choice. So they allready know what he is going to do, but how can that be choice? I dont know really but i think i just confused myself

What the Oracle is talking about is fate; everyone is in the Matrix to do what they were meant to do. When Neo makes a choice, he has already made it, he simply has to understand it; to learn from it, and to suffer the consequences of it. The Oracle is able to tell what will happen because she has access to the choices that have already been made. She knew that Neo would pick the opposite door for Trinity, but Neo still completed his task and more beyond that. That was a choice that he had previously made. It is confusing but it makes sense if you pound it into your brain for a while.

If it is a choice made before the actual event which required choosing came to be, then it is an illusion of choice and no choice was ever really made. If everyone in the Matrix is in the Matrix to do what they're meant to do, and cannot do anything about their purpose, then choice is nonexistent.

Lets look at Neo's life as a path. If choice were real, there would be other paths leading away from the original path. But, since the choice was previously made yadda yadda yadda, his life is just one straight line and choice is only an illusion. He may have said in his mind "I want to do _this_ and not _this_", but if the choice was already made before he thought that, then the alternative to his choice never really existed, only in his mind.

Only my opinion, kind of complicated but I hope someone understands what I'm saying because I'd like to be proven wrong.

One thing that I don't get, is that Neo sees Trinity dying in the exact same situation that she actually dies at the end of the movie, however, the only reason she went in was because Sauron and his crew were all killed. And those guys died partially because of the bolt coming undone, and the catwalk killing the operator and the fall killing the gimpy guy that hobbled through, and all this is going on while Morpheus is saying there is NO COINCIDENCES.

So back to the main point, how the hell can Neo see what is going to happen IN THE MATRIX if all those things are brought about by events that happen in the Physical world, that haven't happened yet.

Well, I'm also confused about that. I first thought that in the matrix, since it is a program, everybody's life in it is coded...therefore, they have no choice, their lives are chosen for them...This is fate in the matrix. But, when you get disconnected, you start becoming aware of your choices. But then, when they go back in the matrix, maybe the matrix take control again and they no longer have the choice to do what they want. I don't agree with that last part tho, it doesn't make sense to me. But how could Neo sees in real life when dreaming, what will happen to Trinity in the matrix? It would mean then that, we never have a choice even in real life, just the illusion of it, even on a subconscious level (like they coded in the matrix). Our lives are lead by fate...

The choice, then, was already made by the machines... but if that is true, then is there also an illusion of choice in the real world?
