besides keanu, who would make a good neo?

keanu makes a good neo, but who else do you think would be good as neo?

also with the person you chose, tell whether you think they'd make a good substitute neo or would be better than keanu?

Christian Bale! he fits the part well.. though, he did that movie 'Equilibrium' which kinda looks like a Matrix rip-off, although I haven't seen it.

Ben Affleck, though when I think of Ben Affleck now, I just remember how corny he was in DareDevil.

I think Brandon Lee could have pulled this off, but Keanu just has that 'believable' "I'm a computer nerd come super God" charm. Its good that Keanu has never had much of a 'fighter' type role. Its very believable that he's just been pulled from the Matrix and turned into this God like figure.. [if that makes sense]

Yeah, Equilibrium's sort of like the Matrix in the fight scenes. But the story's completely different and seems like the kind of thing Spielberg would make in his spare time (In a good way) ;) The acting is better than the Matrix to me.

As for another Neo, I think they wanted Will Smith for the original, didn't they? He doesn't seem right though. The movie would have to be turned into an action-comdey if he did it ;)

I would have loved to see a real martial arts actor be the one. I know there aren't any good martial arts fighters that can act (not that Keanu is that great of an actor) but damn, if Keanu could fight like Donnie Yen or Sing Ngai (Seraph) I would have loved the matrix even more than I already do. The fight scenes are spectacuar as they are, but still you can see how keanu and the rest (except seraph) are very slow when fighting.

i think patrick swayze would be a good one 4 the ONE .....

i disagree about equilibriums plot line being completely diffrent, on the contrary i think that theyre very similar. Both movies revolve around choice and control and both movies are about breaking free of opression, whether youre fighting against clericks or agents, those who've seen both would know what im saying

that was kinda my opinion when I said Brandon Lee [had he still be alive].. but like I said.. Keanu really has that charm. He has an aura about him, like an innocence as Thomas Anderson. The guy nextdoor who is a hacker and has a regular job. As soon as you put people like Jet Li [who I'm glad didn't take the part of Seraph], Chan & Van Damme in flicks, you know what you're gonna expect. Its like cheating you out of a surprise.. you don't expect the guy who played Ted Theodore Logan to be flying around a computer generated world, kickin ass. For me, that is a massive upside that Reeves brings to the character. You believe that as Thomas Anderson, he has never so much as farted in a crowded room. Keanu just has it. Simple as that, IMO

The only worthy replacement would be Patrick Swayze - Have you seen Road House!?!?!??! He would be perfect! Either him or Clint Eastwood...perfect.

The only problem with Jackman is that he's almost too handsome to be real. He looks more like a comic book character (no pun intended) than an actual person. He definitely has a good amount of acting talent though, due to his years on stage.

i just have to say this. keanu has this aura about him, and he just seems to fit the role as "neo".. i don't think anyone else could of pulled it off like him.

Truthfully though, i don't know anyone who could rival Keanu in the Matrix. He was great.

I Think that Keanu did an excellent job in the matrix, I wouldn't have picked anybody else for the part, He's just got that way with actually fitting himself in with the role, He looks the best too.

I've always liked Keanu Reeves as an actor, but if there had to be another, i'd say Dave B from Buffy and Angel, and before you say WHAT??? He does actually practice Kung-fu.

People say that Keanu is wooden, i think that's just stupid. His style was perfect in those films when you think about the fact that he was playing a character who'd been brought up and controlled in a machine made environment.

I also like Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp, they would certainly be perfect actors for the part if they could be good at Kung-fu

i really can't see anyone else playing the part of neo as well as keanu did, it's kind of like arnold in terminator, it's as if the part was written just for keanu. if anything they should have casted a no name actor since it would have fit in with the "every day guy" part of mr.anderson and the no name actor would have had just as much fighting experince as keanu anyway so training him would have been pretty much the same.

I really can't think of anyone who woulda done better than Keanu, but let's consider a different question.

How about Tom Cruise? hahaha... He woulda made it so corny.

Or, who would make a cool Morpheus? Probably nobody. You just can't beat Lawrence Fishburne.

1. Triple H. - Neo as a pumped, roid-rage protein shake junkie with bad skin and a really big nose. This guy IS an animal. He is The Game. And personally, I think he's a better actor than Keanu.

Did you know that Monica Bellucci (Persephone) also worked with Keanu in 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'? She was one of Dracula's 3 brides that kept Keanu "prisoner" in the castle, sucking his blood 24-7. Gawd, I've STILL got wood from that scene, and that was back in the early '90s!!! And even then, Keanu seemed to have his mind on the Stardog tour........

I agree fully with ZeroOne. Keanu played Neo to perfection. If someone else had played him, he would be been too emotional, or too smart looking, or too articulate - and this is not because of Keanu's bad acting skillz (his acting is quite good) but because of how he plays Neo, especially Neo's vulnerability in the second and third, perfectly.
