If Machines in Matrix have intelligence...Why they act like pre-programmed robots?

texabara

Isn't it is contradictory?

If they are programs who are going to do what the program tell them to do...when their intelligence start to take over?

What do you think?
Madhijs

not every program has to be intelligent... it is not that once AI is invented my calculator is going to think for itself...
texabara

U R right! But there is something else.

When the movie presents characters like the keymaker and the Oracle, they say they have to do what they were meant to do. They were created to do something and thats it.

I think the mayor breakthru is done by Smith when it get into the human body outside. Needless to say the irony of Smith being a human when he hate us so much.hahaha

Why Merovingian was made in the first place?
Truth

Tex, the AI doesn't necessarily have to produce more AI every time it makes something. For instance in the matrix, AI would need programs running that simply ran to a purpose, and nothing else. You always need something static. So if the Oracle and Keymaker programs are just there to do what they were meant to do, it doesn't mean the whole system is contradictory. AI would be able to create and run programs depending on its needs and goals- if it needs something to be free- thinking, they can do that, or if they need something for a particular reason, they can do that too.

Well, Smith isn't a human. He takes that form in the matrix. He is just a program. To begin with, he was obviously programmed for a specific purpose, but since his encounter with Neo at the end of M1, he has ignored that purposed. He was 'compelled to disobey'.

Now, so far with the programs as 'people' that we've seen (eg, Smith, Oracle, Keymaker) they all have a purpose, at least until they decide to abandon that pupose. So we can assume that the Merovingian had one too to begin with. We just don't know what is it yet.

For the Matrix story to be consistent, the "programs" inside the Matrix (keymaker, oracle, agents, etc.) can not be AI. They are simply really, really complex heuristic programs, perhaps with input from AI when required.

Otherwise, the agents wouldn't have the limits that humans otherwise do not.
Xirtameht

Scratch that... we're probably just really complex heuristic programs as well with a healthy dose of random variable inputs.

That would mean that agents are specifically not all that complex, relative to "true" AI. They would be more akin to the Deep Blue super-chess computer.
Alfredo

they have to perform their function, but they use AI to accomplish it.
matrix_why

About the agents:they are just programs which, the architect of matrix designed them to search and destroy...they do not think what are they doing ,they just kill because"they are here for this".
The smith is not an agent any more...it is just a virus that is mentaly unbalance!
AI:Artificial intelligence. An intelligence that product the other machines. the system of the Matrix is a very powerful system that
knows humans want to destroy it, so every beings that has intelligence defends its self, and we say AI...AI in matrix made the santiels(I do not know the correct spell, sorry!) to defend from its self.
thanks
