He's running. Fast. Faster. The rain slaps his face like God's hand. He keeps running. Hard. His lungs are burning. His stomach is in pain, but not from the running. He keeps running. Through the forest. The thick forest. Branches. Those whips of hell. Whipping his body like leather. He suddenly bursts out of the forest. Where it ends, it meets a small town culd de sac. He sees basketball hoops on driveways and a bike left out on someone's lawn. He catches his breath, and when he's sure he's alone, he starts walking home. Suddenly, ringing. His cell phone? No, he lost that. Ringing. Ringing. Soft at first, but getting louder. Louder. LOUDER!!!

He wakes up. His phone's ringing. He hurries over to get it. He picks up and the other end hangs up immediately. "Third time today damnit...". He slams down the reciever and looks at the screen he left when he fell asleep.

...>USER SEARCH<...

He types for another 3 hours. Over and over again, he types the same exact words

...>USER SEARCH<...

SEARCH: Neo

..........SEARCHING..........

Then it hits him. Like catching a bullet in his mouth. His heart stops. The words across the screen:

...>USER SEARCH<...

.

He hesitantly clicks and sends away.

>CHAT INVITATION<
-----/TO NEO\-----
-???CONFIRM???-

He slowly clicks yes. The button clicks. In exactly 0.303 milliseconds the information travels from his computer to the other, but to him it seems like hours.

>>>>>CHAT INVITATION ACCEPTED<<<<<
----->YOU ARE NOW CONNECTED TO Neo

Liquid: Hello? Is this Neo?
Neo: Hello.
Liquid: Neo, is it really you?
Neo: You are really troubled right now. You need to calm down. Take a breath of fresh air...

===Neo===

"Piece of ****!!!". He slams down his fist onto his keyboard, smashing it into two. He immediately unplugs his computer and throws himself onto his bed.

RING!!! RING!!!
RING!!! RING!!!

"What the ****?"

His cell phone and his bed side phone ring simutaneously. He answers his cell phone, the bed side phone still rings.

"Hello?"

A deep voice on the other side responds:

"It's them. Get out...NOW." CLICK

"DAMN HIM!!!" He throws his cell phone to the wall, smashing it into 303 pieces.

RING!!!

The other phone still rings.

RING!!!

It rings for the 23rd time. "Who the **** wants to talk to me so badly?". He answers before they really hang up.

"Hello?"

The other side hangs up immediately.

He slowly hangs, up. He lies down on his bed, but in no sooner than 3 seconds does he burst back up in panic. It's them!!! He quickly grabs his bed side phone and screws open the microphone to find what resembles a metalic crawfish inside.

"****, it's bugged..."

The thing jumps up out of the mouthpiece and into his mouth. He struggles to spit it out, but the thing crawls down his throat. In panic he runs out his apartment door, and begins runing down the dark hall, when he sees three shadowed figures a few yards down. He quickly turns around and begins running the other way, guns firing and bullets chasing behind him, still trying to clear his throat after swallowing the thing. He makes a quick turn and looks up at the door he is passing. He stops. Room 303. The door looks strangely familiar, although he had never come down this hall before. Suddenly, SNAP!!! A bullet hole appears right in the zero. He starts running again. Outside. Down the street. Rain hitting the ground hard. He slips and falls, but gets back up. They are still behind him.

Suddenly he bursts into the city park. It's raining, so no one's around. Except...

BLAM!!!
BLAM!!!
BLAM!!!

He can still feel bullets whizzing past his face. He stops running. He looks around him. He sees the forest. A dark, dangerous looking forest. He knows it. He's been here before. The forest looks inviting. He runs.

Ringing. Ringing. He looks around. He listens. Hard. He walks around, trying to find what it is. A mailbox.

It's a house's mailbox. He opens it to find a large yellow envelope. The envelope is ringing. On the envelope in dark, bold writing is the word:

LIQUID

"What the ****? I don't live here".

He looks up at the house. Someone's at the window. He quickly shuts the mailbox before they can see. He walks a bit down the street, the package still ringing and then finally rips the envelope open. Out falls a cell phone into his hands. It slides open...

"Hello?"

"Keep running, they are coming."

Anger quickly turns to fear. His face goes from 5 shades of red to a pale white. He stands there, gripping the cell phone.

"What are you doing? Get the hell out of there!!!."

He starts running again. Down the street. He turns the corner, and SMACK!!! Someone in a trench coat and sunglasses nails him in the chest with a baseball bat. He knells down, rubbing his chest from the impact. Suddenly, the man smashes something down hard on his back. He feels four ultra sharp claws of some sort gripping into his back. He yells in pain. He feels warm. He can feel something moving through his body. Suddenly, he starts coughing and then regurgitates. He sees the metal bug fly out of his mouth and shatter into pieces on the pavement.

Before even saying a word, he is thrown into a car, and the man and 3 other people are strapping cords and all sorts of unidentifyable objects onto him.

"Alright, this is your only chance to make this decision. And you're gonna have to make it in the next 5 seconds. You want to know the truth?"

He is still overtaken by pain, and simply nods his head. A pill is instantly shoved into his mouth. He swallows it even without any water. They get out of the car, he looks like a mess of wires. They shove him into a payphone booth, he can barely make out what's going on outside. They are plugging all his wires into some large machine sitting next to the payphone booth. The phone rings, and Neo grabs the handset and places it on Liquid's face.

An old man across the street see's a man standing over another man in a payphone booth. Sceaming and yelling in pain, the man on the floor disappears. The old man cries out in shock, but then feels instant pain. His clothed and face and body all morph into an anonymous figure in a suit and sunglasses. Agent Johnson grabs for his gun...

-Woah!
-Gotta admit, your story's pace is fast...and perhaps covers just about everything at once. Nice one...I never thought anyone would be able to cover a Neo/Trinity/Morph computer conversation like you did...
Oracle2.0

nice, but you went a tad overboard with the '303', not bad though. I'm not sure i like the idea of the Neb crew pressuring someone into being freed, but I'm sure the situation would come along now and then. You're off to a good start, keep it up.

well, in reloaded they said they had unplugged more minds in 6 months than they had in 6 years. i guess i wanted to tell my idea of the story of one of those minds being unplugged.

What you wrote is truly a great piece of literature. Show it to the right people, and you could be famous.
