UT The Oracle offered him a cookie in m1 and a lollie in m2. They are programnes she is giving him. I'd bet anything on it. thetruthguy I think I agree with you. The cake in M2 was a program given to the girl to make her have an orgasm, so it's very possible that the cookie was a program ... kind of like a virtual Prozac. It lifted his spirits maybe, or maybe it did something else we don't know of yet. scrappy I don't think he even ate the candy, tho. I wonder if the candy is a program that he was supposed to eat to make him decide a certain way, like a mind altering drug, or the red pill. But since he didn't eat it, does that mean he was supposed to and didn't, or that the oracle already knew he wouldn't. If the oracle is a program, then she would be worried about her own survival, wouldn't she? Therefore, not really helping Neo. Or maybe she just thinks it's time to end it all, since she's a broken program and they want to delete her anyway. UT I was wondering why in the first m1 she said "here have a cookie you'll feel better". She also said to him Your not the one, not in this life, maybee the next. NEOsporin these r some fasinating points brought up. good thinking people. k-lynn It's amazing how the human mind works. I have seen in at least a dozen other threads where people attribute the oracle with telling Neo he was not the one. She told him he couldn't be told - he just had to know. She pointed out it didn't matter what she told him, he had is own ideas anyway. She told him he had the gift and was waiting for something. She even went so far as to mock his skepticism of her by going up to him and saying things like: "well, let's have a look at you!" and "now I am supposed to say.... hmmmmm ... and you say...." She was leading him even then. As I think the brothers are leading the audience by the use of such language and scenarios. You all heard exactly what they wanted you to hear. You heard (same as I did until I revied that scene about 20 times on the DVD) that one of them would die. I would be willing to bet that most of you didn't even realize this wasn't a lie until you either went back to it or someone pointed out to you that 'he did in fact die!' I think the brothers are weaving their own form of the matrix plot using the matrix plot. Leading people trying to 'figure out' - people who don't like to feel like they aren't in control - to exactly the conclusions they want. And I think it's brilliant. KL k-lynn Besides, I think the cookie is a place holder dropped by the oracle so she can remember later where the conversation with Neo left off for the next time he comes back so she doesn't have to remember it herself. (sorry, very obfuscated HTML joke there - I won't try it again) KL UT you get the thumbs up from me for that theory. She has to remember (bookmark) through the form of food. Also Merovingian was daunted by the fact that when he offered them food the declined, but due to his own vanities he shows Neo how he can make a woman orgasm through cake. How many other programnes are out there and if so, some things they offer you can kill you in the matrix like a gun shot, he could poison the food. mmmmmmmmmmmm:cool: Starseeker K-lynn, you truly have woken up, and gained enlightenment. I take my hat off to your awesome, extraordinary perception. In the face of Neo's (and ours, admittedly) ignorance, the omniscient Oracle chose to humor him with trappings of what he would expect from her. None of this is actually relevant to the point. Neo's journey to her is the things that counts, not his interaction with her. It echoes the concepts of a journey to Mecca, or a quest to get audience with a holy man, where most of the insight is gained not through the rewards awaitng one at the end of the goal, but the experience of having been through it. His trip to the Oracle certianly opened up his mind, as the scene where the classic phrase "there is no spoon" appears. We notice that afterwards, he begins to question himself and his place in life, because of his misplaced trust in the Oracle's "truth". By placing so much on the reward, but not the lesson of the event, he lost his way. Indeed, the wool has been pullled over our eyes, and the "splinter in your mind" of Morpheus' monologue pushes itself yet deeper, thanks to the W. Brothers. Helix Yeah, and she does say something about after he is done eating the cookie, he will feel a whole lot better. But I bring up a point I posted in another thread. Neo saw the program that was in the cake in Reloaded. So wouldnt he have seen the program in the candy she gave him?? UT There is no spoon The oracle didn't draw his attention to the programne. Merovingian on the other hand through pure vanity should him. He was the first programne to do that. TR UT There is no spoon sorry about the spelling:o Xehirut There have been multiple posts suggesting this after I started suggesting it. You know I agree. Helix Yes, but the point is that Neo looked at the candy. Its not like he wouldnt have seen it just because she didnt tell him it was there. View Full Version : the Oracle and the cookies |
