Goth/Punk

SullenGiRLaFa

OMG I am soo furious right now! (hehe the reason being...) Goth doesn't automatically equal wears black...or wear part black! I mean AVRIL LAVIGNE and Brintey Spears wore black before and I don't think they are goth...

Also about being punk...army pants do not equal being a punk...or buying clothes from Hot Topic and wearing ****ies! sorry...i'm just po'd about that...heh what are you thoughts?

I agree. Too many posers out there to generalize like that. Hate to say that but it's stupid to ignore it.
funkyhorror

I agree with you totally funkyhorror! Since when has it come down to what you wear that makes you who you are? doesnt anyone actually get to know a person anymore? or are we all catagorized by clothes?

Oh for gods sake SullenGiRLaFa, your hatred towards all kinds of stuff has to stop, or at least you posting about it here. I already warned about this in your Avril Lavigne hatred thread (which I also closed because it was nothing but an endless rant about how, well, you hate her).

So you don't think people wearing black are goths or people wearing army pants are punks, good for you. Now stop posting these useless topics, if not you are about to go on my spammers list, long time member or not.

Goth... someone in here living a gothic life style? Just found it intresting, allthough it's a little too dark for me, and I usually wear black throusers with a coloured T-Shirt or coloured ones with a black T-shirt, but that's a question of one's own style.

I just have to get this out of the way first, because this is only the second time I have seen CraHan " lose it". My friend, you have endless amounts of something that I completely lack, patience and tact. So now that's out of the way.....

I tried not to come into this thread, however my expectations were correct unfortunatly. Lame lame lame. Before you go on about what makes a person what they are by what they wear, I would like you to go and look up the question I asked you a couple of weeks ago, for that in itself was scary enough that you didn't know why the toilets flush clockwise in one part of the world and counter-clockwise in the other. You have done some great posts Sullen so don't keep doing this for it's getting stale.

However I would like to address to you that I personally don't give a rats about what or how pple dress, as long as they are true to who they are and remain individualistic and open minded.
Punk, Goth, ghey, straight or Australian, it's the music, interests and style that you choose who makes a person who they really are.

Any idiot can whinge about a clothes shop, and how they are being bagged out about their dress label. That makes them sheep to the system, so don't fall into that trap. But I am only elaborating the obvious that the other members have put, just a bit more indepth.

Keep it real man and look up the toilet conundrum for me please..

Don't worry UT, I wasn't losing it :), my use of smilies just drops to 0 when I post in a more serious manner. I'm still calm, it takes more than a few posts like these to get me worked up ;). Nevertheless I thought it best to point out my feelings on the matter before we see more of these kinds of posts. You can't like 'everyone' on this planet, the only thing you can do is concentrate on the people you do like.

I know CraHan, it's hardly often (only once before) that you have used "Oh for gods sake", and I only wish I had half the patience you possess.

And god only knows, after some of those others we were discussing you had, and yet you never get fazed. Man I wish I could be as centred sometimes, but hey, you gotta love me;p

If this thread is gonna keep appearing as new for no reason, then I'm gonna damn well give it a reason to appear as new.

*plink plink* <- my two pennies worth:

Hot Topic = just a store, and I think, a good starting point for those interested in getting into goth or punk scenes. Kind of like a starter's kit type of place. I think most of the quality cultural experiences are "underground" or go back to the roots, and those that are really interested in exploring the goth or punk subcultures have a mainstream place to go in Hot Topic to get them started on their cultural journies. From there, they will dig and dig to find a niche within the culture that tickles their fancy, and Hot Topic seems like a relatively decent starting ground for that in the sense that HT carries stuff you won't find in mainstream department/clothing/music stores. That being said, I'm well aware that many people will go and spend hundreds on clothes, stickers, patches, piercings, etc. at Hot Topic and claim affiliation with a culture that they know little to nothing about, which is very unfortunate and often detrimental to society's views of these cultures as well, and for that I'm apathetic as no one likes a poser.
