My log

Oracle2.0

I started thinking about this and decided to type it up. Hope you enjoy it...

When I awoke this morning, it felt like a normal day. But then, what is normal anyway? Average, usual, ordinary, the same… Or is it just what we expect of certain things? It’s a ‘normal’ day when we wake up and the sun has risen. It’s not ‘normal’ to wake up and there not being a sun… Or, at least that’s how you would define a ‘normal’ day. You have always had sun, right? There’s never been a day in your life when the sun just decided not to rise, right? Consider yourself lucky. I have never known the sun. The real sun anyway. The sun hasn’t been shining for a very, very long time. I’m glad. I hate the sun. The sun’s the reason why everything was destroyed. The sun is the reason machines went after humans. The sun gave them life first. Hammal says I’m wrong. He says that humans are to blame because we chose to play God. I don’t know. It’s hard to blame your own species for destroying itself.

Thats very profound but works really well. Have you anyting else like that? I woulf like to hear some if you do.
Oracle2.0

well, I wirte the Capricorn, but 'My Log' is different from that.
MacLeod

Hey...its profound; i'll say it...but pretty morbid. do u always think like that? i used to once...very depressed at that stage. still it is well-done...skills in both stories n poems...it sure sounds like one. That's a rare set of skills i'd say...
Oracle2.0

thanks Mac! I don't always think like that, actually I rarely do. I just get into a character and write what they would say. A new installation of My Log is coming!
Oracle2.0

I've noticed how different my shipmates are from each other, yet they still get along. For example, Hammal prays to Allah everytime one of us has to get 'jacked in', while Nymph quotes the Torah on certain occasions. Guess what? Those two have been a couple since the day they met. i don't see how people could possibly believe in God anymore. During the time when AI took over, you don't think people prayed? You know they prayed. they prayed to Allah, to God, to Buddha, to Muhammad, to the Saints, to everyone. Religon served them well, didn't it? To me, there is no God. God is dead. I remember hearing something in the bible about even if things get bad, you should believe that God is with you. Well if God's with me, he'd better get off and find someone else to comfort. I don't need any help from the guy who abandoned us.
MacLeod

I see where you're going now...this is an excellent one! it's like Adrian Mole or "Gulf"...very convincing!...but morbid :(
Oracle2.0

Don't you mean Adrian Monk?
Oracle2.0

hey, I've decided to start this thread up again because I have no life!! (j/k). Seriously, I will be starting 'My Log' up again very soon.
Hitman

Interesting...I don't know if I caught this my first time through here. I like it though...very different feel.

Lost one today. Not my first and certainly not my last. Kid by the name of John. Oh well, I guess with a system name like that, how could you not see it coming? He had blond hair-or maybe it was brown, I try not to care- and was tall. When Napster and Hammal brought him into our safe house, I could already see that this kid's favorite color was blue, if you know what I mean. But, I gave the speech, just like I did to everybody else. Well, not THE speech, but a speech. I try to have a different speech for every potiential.
I told him to have a seat. He gladly did. I paused for a moment, then sat down across from him in a similar postion(humans are more comfortable with a person who is more like them, even with the way the sit, stand, and walk).
"John, have you ever read 'The Taming of the Shrew'?" I asked. He said he hadn't. What are they teaching in those schools? 'The Taming of The Shrew' is a classic Shakespearean. Anyway....
"Well, it starts out where this homeless bum gets a joke played on him," I said, "See, basically, these people fool him into thinking that he's really a rich noblemen, and he's been crazy for the last few years. He fell for it," I explained rather briefly.
"Did he ever find out the truth?" John asked.
"Why should he bother to? I mean, first he was a poor son of a...gun, now he's rich and can have whatever he wants," I said, hoping the kid would bite.
"Yeah, I can see what you mean..."he said slowly. My heart fell. This was not going well.
"Do you think he should've been told the truth?" I asked. John thought for a minute, then said, "Well, you now what they say. 'Ignorance is bliss'."
I looked over at Napster, Hammal, Nymph, and Heart. We were all thinking the same thing: John wasn't going to be waking up anytime soon.
I took out the silver case with the two pills: Blue and Red.
"You take this blue pill, you stay the rich noblemen who thinks he's recovering from maddness," I said to John, "You take the red pill, you you can find out what truth lies behind those hallucinations. It's your choice."
John sat there for what seemed like hours. But, eventually, he took the blue.
Napster and Heart took him back to his house. They had some agent trouble, but they made it home okay.
Oh well, there's always tomorrow....
Senai

Whoa, this rocks so hard =) You make it sound real, and that takes a lot of skill...actually, I think it sounds like it's coming from a younger unplug-ee, but i could be wrong.

I like your new avy, by the way.
Oracle2.0

thanx, Jet made it.
Hitman

Heh...nice...now THAT'S interesting...very different take. Not often you get to see the inner turmoil and thought that would be behind an unplugee...sweet!
Oracle2.0

I caught Pan, AGAIN. I'm really starting to worry about him. I should've stopped this when it started, rather than how late in the game it is now. I can understand....sort of. I've never really tried to attach myself to anybody. Pan really does love Danna...Donna...whatever her name is. But he can't risk tapping into the Matrix everyother day. That's how you get killed. That's how agents find out who to put a bug in. It's not like I ENJOY yelling at Napster, or whomever Pan recruits to operate for him, or Pan himself. I don't want to be the bad guy. I'm one of the good guys.
MacLeod

O2, you have a knack for drama and emotional description and boy am I glad you're carrying on the tradition! It's taken me a long time to be able to sit down and read these fanfics; one by one...just lovely! :)
Horatio

this is honestly great stuff. you are a really talented writer, keep it up!
Oracle2.0

It doesn't matter how many times you've seen sentinels, they still scare the **** out of you when you rum into them. Heart caught them on the radar, so I told Napster where to land the ship, then Pan caught off the power and readied the EMP.
A few minutes later, those of us in the cockpit saw them come into view: metallic blue plates, a half insect-half crustacean body with six burning red eyes. There were two of them, sort of swimming along. They never even paused to check decibal level.
Once they were gone, we all began to breathe again. Pan turned the power on and we were moving again.
Heart commented as she headed out of the cockpit, "I don't care if VB3 is outlawed, it would sure make running into those things a hell of a lot easier."
Amen.

It does. You always seem to impress me. I think you have the best writing skills (not including comedies) aside from Neo's_son
Oracle2.0

Nova. New. No, just because it ends in 'a' doesn't mean it can't be a guy's name. I like it. Unique.
But I guess all the names here are unique. Believe me when I say you will not find ONE John, Sam, Mike, Jack, Joe, Tim, Jim, Bob, Bill, Jacobs, Matts, or George in all of Zion. Okay, maybe ONE George, named for St. George because he supposedly defeated a dragon, but I guarantee none of the others. You won't find any Hannahs, Sarahs, Annes, Marys, Amandas, Emilys, Madisons, or Elizabeths either.
Strange how the popular girls' names are long and the popular boys' names are short, isn't it?
Most people take their hacker names. The Zion children, however, take...different names, such as Lock, or Hack, or Drill. Object names. But some get off with names like Isis, or Apollo. Names that are worth something.
I chose my name from research. I didn't want my hacker name. Who in their right mind would take a name like "ILV2HC"? (That's ILoveToHack, by the way) I would NOT take my Matrix name. I had been reborn, so I wanted a new name along with the new life. I chose "Nova". That is my identity as it shall be until the day I die.

Although some might find this offensive, I like it!

We've been checking out this kid for a while. Name's Scott Miller, aka Moon. Now how can you not like a kid named Moon? Real rebel, dyed blue hair, jeans with chains, spiked jewlery, the works. His best grade is a C+.
But it's all an act. Moon, like many potientials, has a split life style. To his friends, schoolmates, teachers, and parents he's a messed up, not-going-anywhere failure. To several unlucky e-mail recipiants, including some major companies, he's Shadow: a hacker who's created about 3 viruses so far, one of which takes about a year and a half to fully erase from the system. He's clever; he didn't hack and steal the answers to quizzes or finals or anything, thus no one has a clue about his favorite hobby.
We're thinking of contacting him, so I guess I'll wait and see what the kid has to offer.
Agent_Drake

You always seem to amaze me, Oracle. How do you do it?
Horatio

pure brilliance 02
Oracle2.0

thanx guys! :D
Oracle2.0

We have made contact!
We waited until Moon decided to do some surfing and took the opertunity. Started out using our little trick where we take control of a person's computer system, using it as our on message sender/reciever.
The conversation between Moon and Nymph basically went like this:
Nymph: Hey Moon.
Moon: How do you know my name?
Nymph:I know EVERYTHING about you, Moon.
Moon: What are you? A fed or a stalker?
Nymph: I'm neither and both.
Moon: Ooookaayy...
Nymph:Is this real, Moon?
Moon: Is what real?
Nymph left it at that.
Moon: Hello? You there?
Then we logged out and the computer was back in the hands of Moon. Yeah, we probably seriously freaked him out, but that's only the beginning. What may seem like a dream to him now will probably end up his own living nightmare. But that's the way it's gotta be.
Agent_Drake

Wow very nice... It's awesome! You're work is by far the best! (In serious matter, not including comedies):)
Hitman

hmmm....this is such an interesting piece of work. you definitely get inside your character's heads, which is a feat, to say the least...impressive as always, O2...
Truth

Very impressive O2- a great idea, and such an original angle. It's so personal, it really is just like a diary. Well done.

There isn't a swear in any language that could satisfy what I'm feeling right now.
We lost Moon. Well, WE didn't, Nymph did, do be quite honest. We had it all set up: Nymph would meet Moon in the football field after school. Nymph would take Moon to the car, where Hammal and Heart would be waiting. Then they would come to our HQ, where I would be. Then we'd give him the pills...
But that's not how it went down. THEY found him. THEY came into the school, their ****ing warrant in hand. THEY entered his 4th period class, arrested him, then took him away. Nymph was less then a block away, but she still wasn't fast enough.
But we know where they took him. We know where he is and how to get in.
I know what I want to do. I know what we will do, or at least try to. No one has ever done this kind of thing before. No one has done this and lived, at least.
But I'm not losing Moon. I have high hopes for him, and I NEVER have high hopes. There is something special about him...but what? Why am I drawn to him?
