I see the source as like a computer kernel. It's where every process is created and returned (deleted). I wouldn't think of it as being anything physical. It's a computer so It would exist on a quantam plane where the dimention of time has the only relevance.

I kinda see it as the Matrix recycle bin. Where things can be deleted/ restored. Or indeed changed!

An actuall source is the language written in order to construct a program.

The source of this page is made up of html!

So going by that i'd actually say the source is the heart of the matrix, where everything begins and ends!!!!!

I would say its just where the architect is. Where anything in the matrix can be observed without code. Where you can see all the different outcomes that could happen as well as what does. It is alos like the source of a river i.e. the start but that which is incredibaly hard to pinpoint

I have posted my opinion about it many times, it wont bother to post it again (he).
I think it's an OS, that accordingly to the importance it has (in the movies and ETM), it should be in charge of main control over the machine world. And Probably is the OS that gives support to the matrix and every program involved with it, because they try to reach the Source through the matrix.
