Dear Brady Games,

There is a problem with the Enter the Matrix Strategy Guide.

Warner Bros. and Shiny are no longer operating certain websites (www.danielinstitute.com and www.omegahardwaresolutions.com) essential to translating many of the “encoded terms” found in the Strategy Guide (e.g. HABXGWT7ZRZC7CIRS7KEZIRNL = Take Your Games Further). This renders many of these terms mere gibberish to the average strategy guide user. Because these terms appear primarily in the Strategy Guide, Atari’s Tech Support is refusing to address the issue. Enter the Matrix fans at numerous forums have expressed confusion and frustration over this problem.

Is there any direction or guidance you can provide? Thanks.

Sincerely,

Unamuno
ETM Fan & Contributor to various Matrix-focused websites

Hey Unamuno,

I was the project editor on the Enter the Matrix guide. You recently wrote in and expressed concern that "Warner Bros. and Shiny are no longer operating certain websites (www.danielinstitute.com and www.omegahardwaresolutions.com) essential to translating many of the "encoded terms" found in the Strategy Guide."

Let me assure you that the websites are in no way essential for translating anything in the guide. If you work your way through the Hacking element of the game, you'll eventually come upon a program (DECODE.EXE) that will allow you to translate any of those codes that are in the guide. Other codes are scattered throughout the guide that offer different things, but the ones that are seen as coded words can all be taken care of with DECODE.EXE.

Thanks for writing in! The input of fans like you helps us to constantly improve our guides.

Sincerely,
Christian Sumner
Project Editor

Christian,

Thanks for the reply...but something is still missing with ETM Strategy Guide.

Indeed, SOME of the terms can be translated with the "Decode" command, but there is a plethora of terms (BBGUNSKLPKZP, EABRSSXQQN, ECEPCRGI, IABHAHV, JBHSRPTE, etc. etc. etc.) for which the Decode command DOES NOT work (at least not in the PC version).

QUESTIONS:
* Did the Shiny programmers fail to include all of the terms in the Hacking section of the game?
* Is there a formula for translation of the encoded terms?
* Was this formula hidden on one of the "interfacing" websites which Warner Bros no longer maintains?

WHAT IS MISSING?

Unamuno

P.S. Some websites have translated many of the encoded terms (probably by context). Without additional guidance, however, NO ONE has broken the code. For example, I recognize by context that "IABHAHV" = "BOSS", but I have no idea WHY. Without additional information from the missing websites, I fail to see how the code can be broken for the majority of the terms. I presume the original author, Doug Walsh, is P.O.'d in a major way.

P.P.S. These transmissions are now appearing on ETM fan websites. Better push your "focus" button soon.

Ummmmm. Thats nice. Thanks for sharing that with us.
Unamuno

Obviously, Jetfire90, you don't "get it."

There is a matrix code.
This code appeared in Reloaded, ETM and the Strategy Guide.
This code has a pattern and, consequently, it can be broken.
Whoever breaks this code will be the first to have done so.
Whoever breaks this code will have gone further down the rabbit hole than any.

You know something. I really don't care about any of this. I was just thanking you for sharing it with us. And I am now congratualting you on your discover. That is if you will accept it.

Mere congratulations are inadequate. I demand worship.

Hey Unamuno!

Okay, I know that this isn't the perfect solution, but I'm sure it's one that will help you out. Here's the full decrypted list from Shiny.

There are a TON more codes in there than made it into the guide, but you'll find everything you need in there. As to a patch or a decoding program, I have no idea. Shiny may have plans for this in the future, but they haven't revealed it to us as of yet.

I hope this helps!

Christian

Christian,

Thanks for the valuable ETM encryption info. I'll be sure to share it with other ETM fans at the message boards I belong to. One thing still nags at me, however... When you first enter the Hacking section of the game and read PASSWORD.TXT, it says

<secure log>
Trans OPT: Verified
Remote Entry: 9-18-99 13:03:27
Penetration: <none flagged>
Logged Activity:
www.thematrix.com: 23631BE6
www.danielinstitute.com
Crack the codes at these websites.

...If I go to the Matrix website and click on ZION83N6, a secret binary access panel will drop down. If I then enter 01101111, I am able to access the hexadecimal entry panel. Entering the above code 23631BE6 pulls up three virtual environments from the film. There are numerous other functioning 8-digit codes that access other interesting areas as well. While all of this is entertaining, I have yet to find something that reveals the encryption formula. Nor am I able to understand why the danielinstitute website says nothing other than "BUSINESS TERMINATED".

Are these dead ends that Warner/Shiny never fully developed as planned or is the rabbit hole deeper than I've discovered?

Unamuno,

I honestly don't know about everything that can be unlocked on the website. I would like to think that there's more there than even I knew about.

Good luck in your hunt for the truth!

You have a long time to wait for any respect if you keep having a go at people... Especially me!
Unamuno

You're the only one I've bothered to "have a go" at.

I checked and I'm not the first one to flame you. Pithy, condescending comments don't earn a lot of respect around here.

Who's the common denominator?
Jetfire

I am now getting along with Sullengirl. but thanks for your unwanted attention to what had finished ages ago. You can't post on this site and expect me not to reply once. After all, this is a worldwide website.
