Hmm... Why does Merovingian have the Keymaker?

dutchystar14

What has the merovingian got to do with having the Keymaker and wanting even more power over people. Is he some type of person who controls some parts of the machines who are wanting to destroy Zion?

Maybe the merovingian wrote the keymaker to make him all the keys into the loose ends of the matrix.

The Merovingian seeks to have as much power within The Matrix as possible. The Architect refers to him as an information trafficker, meaning he knows virtually everything about anything that goes on inside his world.
The Keymaker was essentially a password program. Passwords, like keys, open files (or doors) to other areas within The Matrix. Being in possession of the keymaker is akin to having access to any and every part of the matrix.
Were i The Merovingian, i would view the keymaker as a necessary possession. But that's just me.

...The MeroVingian's power is meaningless:for all his words and posturing his power is just something a gangster or a tycoon would have. Keeping the Keymaker is just a part of his desperate bid to seem significant-next to all that was happening in the matrix. It reminds me of the meaningless things people do in their lifetime:acquisition of money, vanity, power...

when did the architect say anything about Merovingian? i cant remember him mentioning anyhting about trafficking!!! if he did please remind me....

to have the keymaker is very important to M, he has certain power, remember he is a rogue program, he has cronies that work for him and keymaker is his access to everything, he can use him to get away and go whereever he wants to.
morpheus1014k

The marovingen simply had the key maker in jail for his purpose, to unlock things in the matrix!!!

Okay they actually answer this one in the movie, remember when the oracle is talkink to Neo in that park lke place before Smith came and attacked him.She was telling him how to get the keymaker and he asked why that vingin dued had him, and she asked what men with power wanted-more power. So the point of having the keymaker is a macho-man type deal.It is one of the more obvious questions to answer.

Wait a second, so is the Merovingian allied with the Architect or not?
I may be wrong, but I seem to remember the Merovingian being an exiled program?
Cuz if the architect was speaking the truth, it would have been in the mahcines' interest to make the keymaker available to Neo.
Maybe the Merovingian took him by force? The Keymaker did seem pretty keen on getting away from him.
Or maybe the architect was lying?
Or could it be a plothole?
Someone please explain this to me.
Jbox

yeah. if what the arch said was true why didnt he create another keymaker or find another way to get him to the source. He had must have the time - "he dissapeared some time ago." Maybe making a keymaker is complicated and the arch was too lazy and he knew neo would get him anyway. but why take the risk

Interesting fact: The Merovingian's rules France in the 7th century.

They couldn't of made a knew keymaker or key becuase once the door to the source was opened it couldn't be opened again

The architect said nothing relating to the Merovingian.

The only reason the Merovingian was holding the Key maker captive (he said to neo there is no reason).
****************************************************

Merovingian: Oh yes, it is true. The Keymaker, of course. But this is not a reason, this is not a `why.' The Keymaker himself, his very nature, is means, it is not an end, and so, to look for him is to be looking for a means to do... what?

Neo: You know the answer to that question.

Merovingian: But do you? You think you do but you do not. You are here because you were sent here, you were told to come here and you obeyed. [Laughs] It is, of course, the way of all things. You see, there is only one constant, one universal, it is the only real truth: causality. Action. Reaction. Cause and effect.

SullenGiRLaFa, have a good point.

Merovingian have the Keymaker to atrack Neo, the One. The cause: have the keymaker, who is the person Neo look for
The effect: Neo will go to Merovingian, so merovingian will have more power.
But Neo was more powerful than Merovingian thought! And Merovingian never realized that his wife was going to betray him.

Remember that Merovingian say Neo's predecesores (I don't know how to spell it) have confronted him before, but Neo was more, how to say?, disrespectful?

Why those choosen one confront Merovingian before? Why Merovingian is always on the way (or path) of the choosen One?

Is this all planned by the Architec? Or is that Merovingian is always trying to stop the Architec's plan?

Yes, the keymaker is super-important inside the matrix. He holds all the keys. But the keymaker itself was a key. A key to reach the Architec.

View Full Version : Hmm... Why does Merovingian have the Keymaker?
