Since they are not real anyway I mean. So to have an effect the user would have to somehow expect an effect of what? So why would he need to give a pill to make Neo forget or join?
My head is spinning too much with questions tonight. Good that I have you guys to help me find answers!
First the red pill is the tracking device... second.. the blue pill prevents something called residual memory from cropping up in Neo's head again, residual memory is like a memory from a surpassed event that occured yet you have no idea it actually took place. Its a very haunting experience.
How do you know it's a haunting experience?
Of course...the red one I get. The blue one - Aaaaiiiiii don't know :)
Ok I had a question about this a week or so ago. Why wouldnt the Agents just take neo's place and kill the crew. A friend explained it to me =D.
The agents put the tracking device in Neo so they could find out where the meeting was. they didnt want to take his place because they didnt want to ruin their chance to catch Morpheus' crew in the act. Then Morpheus gave him the red pill which lets them locate his carrier signal in the matrix so they can get him out. The red pill also makes it so the agents cannot find him or take his place while they are getting him out.
Aka red pill is to stop the agents from finding him, and to help them find him in the matrix. Good question!
the pills make a normal person be able to see the matrix as it really is and be able to do all the crazy stuff
That answer is probably as wrong as it gets...
Why do people say an answer like they truly believe it, when they are just guessing?

Lol too true wildCard. I think a lot of people who post on message boards just want to give some input on a subject without actually thinking about it first. Sometimes its funny though =)
Agree with you too WildCard, on the other hand it is also interesting to see how different the perception can be...
good answer crow, that's what i would have said :)
Yes, I would love to hear other perceptions, when they are intelligently put. You wouldn't believe how many nothing posts I delete in a day. And I am just one mod.
This board has some awesome posters though, it's amazing. Most intelligent board I have posted on, ever I think.

I think a great many things in the Matrix movie are 'symbolized' within the matrix. I got this feeling very early on in the first movie. The pill was a program - when ingested by Neo it helped the Neb crew chase down his location in the power plant so they could be there when he was flushed out.
The bug, similarly was a symbol - of course, it helps the story if it turns into a writhing insect-like monster rather than just being something simple. I also think the use of the 'pills' in the first move was playing into the 'alice in wonderland' overtones. There were many subtle references to it from the tattoo he was to follow, the pills and morphius's speech, and even the TV in the oracle's apartment playing 'night of the lupus' in the background.
Even in the new movie, they used symbolism for software 'backdoors' and the 'keys' created by the keymaker. (no, I am not going to go deep enough to spoil anything)
These wachowski brothers are either very thorough and creative or really sick! lol
But what I can't help but wonder - even after hearing the architect's speech - wouldn't it be easiest just to 'destroy' a freed mind rather than to flush it? We already know they feed the bodies of the dead introvenously to the living. You would think that would be most wasteful to the machines....

Good point k-lynn. That's exactly what I thought. Anyone else noticed that when they are showing the babies being put into the matrix they have no ports, just needles actually stuck into their flesh, but freed minds all have ports. Could sombody explain?
