The Matrix already exists

The Matrix is a system conrtoled by machines. But there are two different types of people in this world. The type that like ot watch T.V. and the kind who like to be out there. The Matrix movie is a hint that we already live in a world run by machines and that we can be set free. "It is there when you watch T.V." its a hint! I'm a big fan of The Matrix and i believe that what its trying to say is that we are not free. What does everyone think?

i totally agree with you, the matrix is a cool movie but it does have a meaning to it.

Its not so hard to believe since there are too many things to discover out there than we know, multiple dimensions, different wavelengths of light to see in that our eyes have no way of seeing for example...the ability to look at and see the goings-on between atoms....

If the Matrix accuatly existed then why wouldn't the Machines have stopped the films already? You gotta look at the whole picture, something like this, incriminating evidence that if the matrix accuatly existed would start a revolution, why would it still exist? We may not live in a real world, we may all be in a "matrix" because it makes perfect sense: Why do things happen? You cant say because God wants it to because in essence "we", humans, created God. We needed comfort for things we know not the answer so we create an all powerful entity named God. And God may exist but If we were already in a matrix then why would forums like this and movies like the matrix still exist?

So many people use the argument that it's not real because it's 'just a film'. Maybe this is why Ai let the movies be relased?

Anyone who thinks it's real was going to think that anyway (ie whether the movies came out or not), (and anyone who believes but can honestly say they never would have thought of it if it hadn't have been for the films is very shallow and obviously doesn't *really* truly believe) and anyone who doubted can say 'AI wouldn't let it be released so it's not real' and anyone who thinks it's just a film can feel like they were right, and go back to their lives.

Ah Truth be very careful wat u just said makes a circular argument that we'll make round and round to no end...this sort of things can't be proved by prediction of the psychology of people...its things like this that stop us from predicting each other as easily as the Arc can...

When i created this bit i didn't mean to say that the movies real. its just... the point of the movie is real. We do live in a world run by machines. Anyway if it was real the machines only want us to do 1 thing and thats mulityply, so that our children and their children can feed them energy. This might be their way of getting us to have children. The Matrix isn't desined to make us dumb and to stop us from thinking it was made to keep us alive and give energy to the machines.

I agree that tv (and more important: the influence of the media that runs on it) can be compared with the matrix.
When I was traveling, I lived without tv and (most) other machines for six months. Although I love to consume information, that must have been the most peaceful six months of my brain.
Peaceful, because you choose your own subjects of thought, not those that the media provides you with.
I didn't miss it, but I wouldn't want to miss it forever though.
I love movies, the internet, x-box gaming and wouldn't want to miss out on all that fun. But to do without for a period of time was quite refreshing.

Circular logic is very deep stuff truth and your point is proven nicely. You didnt sink too deep into detail which is what circular logic can take, it brings you in so deep that your entire point or argument has been swalloed whole. What i was trying to mean was that the machines, if they existed, why would they want the movie out? it is a delimea to them, not realseing it allows people to speculate but realsineg it allows them to show they are real but people will think it is just a movie so they will ignore it but there are others who will believe it and spread it.

Watching TV and not = no freedom

Fight Club had similar messages if you read deep. That our possessions end up owning us. Robots and AI would be classed as 'our' possessions.....

I really hope there is a matrix, it'd explain a lot.

Hey i don't know if this helps anyone but i was thinking about this thread while playing ETM on the freeway level and i noticed a billboard that simply stated "WATCH T.V." I just thought that was the weirdest thing considering what has been said on this thread.

Sure, you can argue that it's real and there's no "real" evidence to discredit you, but you can just as easily say a rock won't fall every time you drop it. The argument is flimsy.

The world is definately not what we see in front of us day in and day out, in one respect or another. Whether it's God, science, who knows. But i can tell you with one hundred percent confidence that we are not currently living inside a matrix controlled by artificial intelligence.

For those of you who choose to believe that THIS movie is offering real hints toward that kind of scene, please consider every other fictional film that has ever been released, and tell me how many of those you believe are actually happening.

for most of them, you are taking their point too seriously. you are talking about a real matrix where ai has total control over us as like the matrix.

to some extent, machines do have , i wouldnt say a control but an involvement with us because if you know notice as your reading this, your on a machine. when you are bored and want entertainment you go to a machine as like a tv, computer, game, phone, etc. when you need transportation, you get on a machine.

now, technology advancing where ai is becoming more and more plausible. for now, we have the control whether or not we want to use these machines but once we cross that line where ai has control over a human being, thats when it's going to be time to watch out.

Well, I don't believe in a matrix created by machines. I'd rather say that, on the one hand, there are aspects of this world controlled by few we don't even know, and/or we anyway don't even see/feel/notice the world and everyone has his own little dream- or nightmareworld, created by environment or not.

I TOTALLY AGREE! I always had a theory that somehow we are hiptnotized (spelling) by televisions. Think about it. I got to school, I can't help but stay up as long as I can watching t.v., knowing i'm going to be dead tired when I get up for school the next day. I'd actually rather be watching infomercials than not watch tv. Over the summer, I would actually stay up till 4 o clock in the morning watchin Chef Tony and his Knives. Since I relized this a few months ago, I have really been trying to stop watch tv a lot. But, it is really hard!

And the most obvious clue to this is that people log in and out of the Matrix through phones. But I don't really see the connection to TV.

Actually, i belief the "Machines", the media is a way of spreading information to the masses. What could be better for a leader to give his people the information he wants them to have,?

However a problem has arisen: The internet. There is no control in this Media. Everyone can spread information to the masses, not just what the government wants us to know. And I think, the internet is the proof that we live in a free world. I am able to convince people all over the globe of my opinion.

Maybe I'm crazy, but I had the same feeling and questions about the world around me way before the movie. Questions like, why I am I black? I don't feel black. Why can't I remember the past? Why does everyone hate me back in High School? Then it happened, through games and revealed impossiblities I now know the truth. Or maybe I am crazy, but like Morpheus I believe it without a doubt.

I compare the matrix to our current government and society. Americians tend to think we are free. We might be freer than a lot of other societies, but we are definitely not free.

In Europe you can drink at 18 and drink with your parents at any age.
In UK you can walk down the street with an open beer bottle.
In Amsterdam you can walk into a shop and buy some marijuana to smoke or mushrooms to eat.
In Germany you can drive as fast as you want as long as you aren't reckless on the German Autobahn.
In Hong Kong you are not required to pay for workman's compensation insurance.
In Chile you can choose how to invest your social security so you are not stuck in a government program that will never pay you a cent.

Then among the states there are different levels of freedom.

In ID and TX you don't need to get permission from the State to teach your children at home.
Many states you are required to wear a helmet if you drive a motorcyle.
NH is the only state that leaves the decision about whether or not to wear a seatbelt by adults up to the adult.
In Vermont you do not need to government permission to conceal carry a handgun.
Women are allowed to charge money to have sex with men in NV (and Amsterdam).
You are allowed to gamble in some states, but not others.
Armed agents will come to your home if you do not pay your taxes (act as the batteries for the goverment so they can continue to fight wars in Iraq and other places.)

Assuming the condition that your freedom ends where mine begins. Or, to put it another way you should be free to do whatever you want as long as you do not initiate force or fraud against anyone.

We live in a matrix and our matrix is the government. It is needed to protect us from people that infringe on our freedoms, but that should be its sole focus.

I know you mean well with the libertarian thing, but I am wary of any political party whatsoever...I feel the truest way to free one's mind is to create your own "party of one" and think for yourself....

But I do see your point, in that we need some type of organization to spearhead the most important cause of protecting our God given right to life liberty pursuit o' happiness....and, most importantly, the right to bear arms....

An armed population is the greatest protection against tyranny....and it's also the best way to protect the life of yourself and loved ones, and your property....when used responsibly as with anything in life....

I don't think we'll ever reach a point that we'll be controlled by the machines (even in a million years), at least not to the extreme just as in the movie. but it makes a good point that we are somehow controlled by not being able to get along our lives properly without them. come to think of it, i won't be able to post my view if there's no electricity that is provided & run by machines. that would give me no freedom to express whatsoever :)

As for Moore, you're just changing the programming of the Matrix. You won't be free.

As for libertarians, most of the people I know don' t like political parties. "party of one", "think for yourself",... It would be great if the political parties would go away. The Democrats and Republicans have passed laws upon laws that make it impossible for a person without tons of name recognition or hundreds of millions of dollars from running for President and other offices (depending on your state). The Libertarian Party has many problems, but it does create a network of people around the country to put an individual who wants to think for themselves on the ballot in all 50 states. The laws make this extemely difficult. Perot didn't do it, Nadar didn't do it, but the LP has done it repeatidly. The next problem is the media and the presidential debates which are both determined to keep the third parties or individuals from being heard or seen by the general population.

As for guns, I live in Vermont where we are allowed to conceal carry guns without getting permission from the government - it's known as "Vermont Carry" in the gun circles. We have the best gun laws in the country and the lowest crime.

Definitely, think for yourself, but also, vote and get involved with candidates that want to set you free regardless of their political party or non-party.

Everything is impossible until someone proves it possible.

I think in a way we are controlled by machines. We rely on them for electricity, water, food. But one thing I think the W bro's might be. i said might be trying to get accross is we are controlled in other ways. The gov. for instance. They tax us and doop us in everything for their own benefit. They have their own system of control. And the way t.v. controls us. Its madness. There is a lesson that could be learned here. That we need to check ourselves. Learn who we are and whats out there. Break out of that system of control and learn who we are. Learn what we are meant to do. This is just a cool movie.
