If you do not want to know whether Zion is a Matrix with a Matrix, stop reading. If so, follow this rabbit.
In the very beginning credits of M2, certain things can be seen in code. At one point, there appears to be code depicting gears turning (these gears are large, as they consume the screen). Eventually, the first scene pans out to a clock. One would assume that the gears seen in code are the same gears that are in the clock. However, if you take a closer look at the scene where the Neb enters Zion, you will notice that they first pass through a large, steel door. This door is opened by large gears (and the camera once again focuses on them and they consume the screen). The gears are in the same positions, relative to one another, and appear to move at the same speed, as the gears seen during the opening credits.
Therefore, the opening credits are actually showing that Zion too is comprised of code, and that Zion is another layer of the matrix.
Nice...
Where can I see this, specifically? Start and end? I didn't catch that. Interesting...
dope. another good peice of evidence to support mim, which i have personally always believed in. i havnt seen this part for a while, and havent noticed the connection. can they really be said to be the SAME gears? are they are exactly the same, save the fact that one is code and the other is real. cause if they are EXACTLY the same, i dont think anyone can argue with mim anymore. even tho many have labeled it as "not a possibility". if they're the same gears, mim is definent. nOoOoOo debates.
and the coded gears are at the VERY beginning, just after the title "matrix reloaded" is pictured.
i watched this part. i cant really tell whether they are the same gears, but they are similair. the movie skips a lot and its just happened to skip a lot at both parts. but they definently are VERY similair. they may be the same gears, but maybe they arent.
I don't think there is entirely concrete evidence against either theory but I do have to admit that MIM is against the wall. How can you possibly think that the opening scene showing gears, then shows a clock in the matrix is somehow supposed to be a clue of the MIM?
First of all they show you gears then logically they show you a clock, a nice slow way to bend you through the matrix scene in the beginning. There is no reason at all to think these two scenes are connected other then the gears look similiar to the ones under zion. wow, the gears look similar? gears are gears and they don't tend to have many style and looks, escpecially when they are designed by the same CG artist that's under the constraints of a budget and probably used some of the background CG models in the zion scene to spruce up the intro.
Other then that what possible support is there for MIM? Agent Smith warping out? the man was cutting his hand and showing blood proving he was now human. why would blood come from his hand if an agent as himself warped to another body? he copied himself on tons of people in the matrix and they then looked like him and fought like him, except for the one guy that's actually human, how on earth do you get that to be MIM?
In the animatrix the question was asked in the final video, "how do you know that we are not in the matrix now?" and she replied, "because I know what it feels like to live a dream."
why are agents running around trying to find people who jack in if they know where they are all along in the MIM?
If Neo used his Matrix power at the end why did it come in the form of electricity through his fingers? wouldn't it make more sense if he used the powers from the matrix(flying, kung-fu, etc..)
why in the enter the matrix game the oracle say that Neo is stuck between two worlds, yours and ours?
face it MIM has very unexplainable problems and these long shot ideas are nifty but don't come close to piecing together the big picture.
Yeah, and the guy who did Matriculated said that if Zion wasn't in the real world, his film would not have been approved.
The "gears" you see at the start are just the internal mechanisms of the clock.
yes, if they are just similair and not the same, then i wont believe it. if they are EXACTLY the same, like they look and act exactly the same, then i do believe it is a hint. if they are similar it means nothing. if they are the same exact gears in the same place and same size, if they are identicle, then it is a clue.
fyi, i dont want MIM to happen in m3. its too cleche, and it does make the previous movies look a lil bit pointless. however, i believe its going to happen. too much evidence. there are things that dont go along with the mim theory, but there's twice as much evidence supporting it. just becuase i dont want it to happen, im not going to ignore the facts and say its not. its logical to the end of m2, makes sense to almost all the questions. i dont want it to happen, because it would hinder the stories of the first two films, but im not going to be ignorant and ignore all the evidence supporting it. its not what i want, but it is definently going to happen.
that's kinda wierd, but i agree with fooflex. just because the gears are similar doesn't mean they are the same gears. well, i also just hope the movie doesn't go there. please no MIAM!!!
Here is why I think the Wachowski Brothers would have a MIAM - it is too tempting not to. A common theme in both movies is to question everything (e.g., the world we live in and the choices we make). The Brothers are too philosophical not to question the reality of Zion. By creating a MIAM, can you really believe that the world beyond the MIAM is reality? At a minimum, I believe the reality of Zion will be questioned by the Brothers in Revolutions. Who knows, perhaps Zion will be determined to be reality. However, even with that determination, one must still question whether that determination was correct.
This is the type of series that will make people think even after its completion. That is the beauty of it, and why so many people have invested so much time and energy debating a philosophising.
