The truth behind........

Lets try to gather all of the facts and theories about the Matrix Movies and come to a conclusion of what it all means !!!!!!!


Theese are facts and things that I have seen in the movies and stuff that I have been reading on other boards.

Please add more stuff that you have found out !

Lets Categorize theese facts into 4 diferent categories.


1. The Names

Neo : New , or in Greek "The One"
Trinity : Most ppl Believe its The Trinity of Persons , representing God in Christian Religion , The Father , The Son and the Holy Spirit , But in fact , Trinity is the name of one of the aeons in ancient Gnosticism , a Very old religion , From the Days of ancient greeks , a Religion that Believes or Favors a Scientific View of things , not a Spiritual one .

Cypher : or "Cyfur" in arabic , meaning : Zero , So Neo and Cypher are "Zero" and "One" , the binary System !

Morpheus : an ancient "Gnostic" God , that controls Sleeps and dreams (remember Part I , when Morpheus spoke to Neo in the Dream World ?)

Thomas anderson : Anderson = Son of Man (Jesus Christ) a Greek-english Word .

2. Images and Symbols.

In the room with the stairs and all the old weapons the is a biblical looking image on the wall with a "M" on. Theres also a "M" on the floor in the same room. "M" means 1000, but I havent figured out what this has to do with the movie.

5. Conclusions.

Neo is Jesus, half man, half god (machine), and Smith is the devil. Neo gets born in the first movie, and probably dies in the last one (though he surely will rise from the dead, like jesus in the bible).
When he and Smith fights in the last movie, matrix will be destroyed (Armageddon), and the people will be set free.

God has to be the programmer(s) that made it all. This programmer(s) is probably human, and thus every man is his own god. Remember in the first movie when neo says that he believes that every man creates his own destiny. I think this somehow could be the final truth.

that only means new in greek, and it is an anagram of one.

The Gnostics tried to interpret Christianity in terms of pagan philosophies, which came from Greek, Egyptian, and Babylonian metaphysics, the term comes from greek indeed (the one who knows), but it's not a old greek religion as far as i know.

it's a greek god from the Greek mythology.morpheus was also the name of a program called Kazaa nowadays.(they used the same network)


Thomas anderson : Anderson = Son of Man (Jesus Christ) a Greek-english Word .


Thomas probably refers to the gospell of thomas, words of jesus christ about enlightement, this is Gnostic once again.
funny that christianity consider that gospell as heresy

1-Nebuchadnezzar: Babylonian king who has puzzling symbolic dreams that must be interpreted.

persephone:Greek goddess taken away from her mother by the king of the underground.

Merovingian: Family of kings that claimed being decendants of Jesus.

Niobe: one of the more tragic figures in Greek myth.got all her familly killed because of her arrogance.Niobe was the queen of Thebes married to Amphion, King.

that's all i can think right now.Watcho said that most names have several meanings.


2-in M1 when neo enters the ship you can read Mark III 11.
Whenever the unclean spirits saw him, they fell down before him and shouted, ' You are the Son of God.

i dont follow at all. there is no notion of satan in gnositism.this is pure christian interpretation. the 'devil' god' would be in the case of the matrix, the architect.Smith would be more the yang of the ying, the plus and minus. i agree there is a lot of gnostic, but it's mixed up with catholiscism,zen buddhism, judaism, philo and science, which makes the ending really hard to dertermin.plus god is absolutely not human in any of the religions you mentionned.
