Hot! A Scientific Forum Understanding The Matrix and the events in the film

This is my first thread entry. I have been reading a majority of the posts here for the last 5 weeks and I have developed an opinion on what is really happening in reloaded. I must give props to Unanamo, who has posted some very well thought out theories and I believe he is probably the closest to being on track to the reality of the movies.

Before I get into my theories, which I will consider additive to those posted by Unanamo (you have probably seen the "Matrix 101" theories), I want to tell you a little about my background to give some credibility to what I say. I am a spacecraft engineer, active duty Air Force, working on a brand new Comm satellite for Air Force Space Command. I have a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and an MBA w/ finance emphasis.

What I want to do with this post is present some science based interpretations of what is happening throughout the movies. The two biggest questions I would like to provide insight into are “why is the matrix needed” and “What is happening at the end of Reloaded” I hope this also becomes a forum for people to post intelligent insights and scientific explanations for various aspects of the films. Due to the text limit, I will spread out my posts into several posts.

To start out, take a look at these two sights below. As you can see, technology is already advancing that could set the scene for a believable matrix existence. I am in no way saying it is going to happen, I am simply showing that it is possible scientifically and mathematically right now, however, technology still needs to grow dramatically for the matrix to exist. But, the lines between man and machine are starting to blur.

As a quick precursor, a lot of my discussion will focus on electrons, photons, the electromagnetic spectrum, electromagnetic fields, frequency, wave length, velocity, energy, propagation, binary languages, encoding/decoding, quantum theory, ions, machine code, source code and others. In order to effectively understand the discussion, please familiarize yourselves with these terms. Also, please be patient as it may take a few days to get all my posts out after this one is posted

Never heard of him. Although many people have theories about what is happening in the matrix. Others, like myself, just watch the movie and can SEE what happened.

Well, not to get too far ahead of you, but the matrix movies are not scientific. They do not make sense scientifically, because the knowledge used in their production is not of a scientific nature. Any sort of interpretation based on pure science is doomed. One glaring piece of evidence to this effect are the many instances of misunderstood computer knowledge presented in the movies.

Well, if it can't exist because of limitations in technology, then it is NOT possible right now, now is it? It's not possible now, it won't be possible for a long time, if ever. It's possibility is not certain at all, unless you can tell us the secrets of human consciousness that no one knows yet.

Those are all nice terms, but what about neurosciences? Can't have a matrix without a full exploration of that field, that's for sure.

not that much, Still, i believe, and as the Wachos b. stated, that there is a lot to find out about that from Quantum physics.and zen buddhism.of course your interpretation will always be flawed if you only consider the philosophal/religous side of things too.


i'm quite interested by what you hafto say sir, and i'm sure a lot of us are, so please, go on. :)

as a hoppy, i work with programming microprocessors to remotely
control various robotic devices. i've been working on the brain
wave project for a few months with some rather interesting
results.

the technology behind the entire concept is extremely interesting,
and the posibilites (if every developed) would change our
entire civilization.

.... is there any new interpretation of the MOVIE?

I do not see it....

Well, brain waves exist since brain exists but I do not feel thay have so much to do with the movie meaning.
It is not a point to check if it possible or not to control the minds from computers, that is the only clear thing in the movie. It is possible!

The question was not how but why.

Anyhow it could be interesting to know where we are in the world about that kind of technology but again I do not see it so much linked to the movie.

BladeDrifter, I think everyone in here already accepts as a logical premise that the technology to build VR total-sim devices like the Matrix will someday become a reality. Most everything that we can conceive of -- except for maybe finding the level below the quantum level, or breaking the speed of light -- has been shown by the history of technology to be within our grasp. Using lasers to read information, the microwave, the affordable PC: all of this was unheard of and deemed impossible not too long ago. (Yes, I'm talking in terms of decades, but to history that's nothing, still in the realm of news. Time is relative. Don't bust my chops.)

I only mention this because it seems to me that part of your efforts (based on the 2 article links, which I read) will be focused on proving Matrix-VR technology possible. A nod of the head to Terikan for pointing out it's not here yet, but as for demonstrating that perhaps someday it will be -- in this place, that's probably preaching to the choir.

Also, I think the question "why is the Matrix needed" was well answered by (1) Morpheus when he explains the war to Neo in M1 and (2) The Second Renaissance. If more sources are needed, we can look to slavery-era literature. But don't let me stop you from posting anything you feel needs to be posted. We are all dying to learn "what happened at the end of Reloaded" and if you can shed light on that...well...praise be!
