The Matrix Online

I've heard so much about this matrix online site, but i dont know what its all about really. could someone give me an explanation?

Not much has been said about the actual game itself, but i was watching the special about E3 2003, and they showed clips from the game. It looks like you can create a character, then upload them into the matrix. once inside you can talk to other people, fight....etc.
