I think the people who are going to court are more probably guilty of sharing infinite mp3s of Beyonce and Eminem, which probably should be more of indictment of taste than piracy. The RIAA won't be able to deter file sharing. As a matter of fact, there is already P2P software in the works that blocks the identity of the end clients. Every time they tighten their grip, P2P morphs into something else. If the RIAA wants to stop losing money, they ought to start releasing more music people actually will want to own on a permamnent basis. jimmerb83 Originally posted by mrmoth A clip transferred from TV hardly consitutes piracy, and even if we're operating under the strictest interpretation of the law, until the DVD comes out, there's no product available to buy it, therefore they aren't losing any money. The news report I saw didn't name specific developers, but I would guess that it would probably come from the usual suspects (in particular the ones who just won their case at the Supreme Court in favour of de-centralized P2P) on their next upgrades. The code for blocking IPs isn't proprietary and it isn't difficult to write so my guess is just about every new one will include it. I hope WinMX does, as I use it religiously. In the meantime, I keep my mp3s under twenty per folder and then switch out which folder I share every couple of hours. It allows me to share all of my files, but no more than should look suspiscious to the RIAA. They'd never take anyone to court over 20 mp3s. Besides, I *really am* one of those people who buys the CDs for tracks they like. In addition to chatting all day on message boards I also make music, and I see the need to support the musicians I like. It's just that there are so few of them these days. SullenGiRLaFa i would put all the songs on one track to make them dl the entire cd!
