A very important question.

Wouldn't "scorching the sun" send the universe into self-destruct therefore destroying the earth and not allowing the chance of the existance off anything?

Space is big. Really big.
Smithmatic

How do you scorch the sky?

btw i didn't mean universe i meant galaxy (milky way).
SecondChld

our sun is kinda like a bit of sand.... And the beach is the universe

so like niethan said, it's big--Really BIG
Madhijs

well there is one other problem i see... without sunlight on earth, there wouldn't be any plants... without plants there wouldn't be oxigen.. without oxigen no humans...

other thing, they torched the sky, they did not destroy the sun, allthough the sky is black it doesn't mean you can get energy of the sun, not all the radiation can be blocked, that can be a reasen that machines had enough energy to fight humanity and win!!
TrInItYtWiN

the strong rays from the sun that would get through would become weak, and not be enough energy for the machines. And to the part about no oxygen, humans had advanced enough to form underground cities, so they had obviously found a way of containing oxygen without plants or using contained plants with artificial lights instead of pure and direct sunlight.

it's shown in Animatrix... i don't remember if its Second Reinassance part one or two...
Smithmatic

I need to see the animatrix, it is official. At first I thought that the Animatrix was just a spoof of some unrelated crap but there is a whole bunch of things I guess it explains that I need to see.:(

You can get oxygen from water. H2O, yes? Apply the correct amount of electricity and it breaks up unto H and O. It's called electrolysis.
NightHawk

Paladin is correct. I believe fish breathe the oxygen in H20 (water).

btw, you didn't mean galaxy, you ment solar system (sol)
It is sol right? or am I too geek?
NightHawk

your not geek. Look! i know what a sol system is too. And my sense of humor really sucks. :p
Choi

I did some research at good 'ole dictionary.com and 'Sol' is the name of our sun, so that means that we do live in Sol System.

Anyways, back to the topic....which was?

Nope. They breathe O2, just like us. Not water.
Gekko

We scorched the sky in The second Reinassance part 2.
Truth

That's what he said. They're breathing the oxygen in the water. We breathe the oxygen in the air.
neo soul

Guys!! If AI had enough smarts to create the matrix...why wouldn't they be able to remove the clouds from the sky to reveal the sun again???
Truth

In M1 in the 'desert of the real' the clouds were still there.

In Animatrix, Final Flight of the Osiris, the clouds were also still there.
Gekko

Nope. He meant they were breathing the O in H2O, not the O2.

I don't know yet. I haven't read the whole philosophy section. But I will, and the answer may be lying there. And maybe not.
Choi

Um, I'm no scientist, but don't we breath O2? And why do we have to get it from water, what about carbon dioxide? We make enough of it our selves.
Smithmatic

I hate to burst your bubbles guys but we breathe more than just O2 I think it is a mixture that is 70% Nitrogen or something like that.
Gekko

Yeah, about 20.9% of the air is oxygen.

I think there has been some misunderstandings here. What I meant was that fish don't get their oxygen from H20, as that was what NightHawk thought, but of 02 molecules dissolved in the water. Now I'm going to get some coffee.
Indigo003

yeah they didnt scorch the sun they just blackened the sky (Animatrix, The second rennaconse(sp) part 1)
Windstalker86

Wouldn't it make sense to just copy the method the machines use of generating oxygen? I mean the machines have the massive fields of humans. They have to make O2 somehow because we need O2. So the humans outside the matrix replicate whatever the machines do, or am i missing something here?
Gekko

Well, the Earth hasn't exactly run out of oxygen yet. The Zionites must be pumping air from the surface down to the core, I guess.
