why cant agents become people not quite out of the matrix?

why the hell dont the agents just become the kid when hes escaping on his sk8 board:confused: same w/ neo in matrix 1.ok ko

Because they r not like Agent Smith who can copy himself now into others as he did to Bane.

no! i mean the reguler agents becoming people b4 they r awakened. its like they always chase people almost awakened by turning to people around them. why not just them?

2 reasons I can think of.

1 - They want to examine him, find out why he is so convinced that his dreams are more real than the Matrix.

2 - They know that he's had contact with Neo. Just like the way that they knew Neo had just had contact with Morpheus. And they were planning on doing the same thing to the kid -- plant a bug on him, make him believe it's a nightmare, then see if he can lead them to the others. The best spy is someone who is not aware that he is working for you.

People in the matrix that aren't unplugged have a signal that Agents use to hop from person to person. The signal can become unstable by the individual realizing the truth or starting to believe strongly that this it's just a dreamworld. Once unstable Agents can't hack into it and he/she becomes useless to the system. If useless to the system he/she has a better chance of freeing himself from the matrix. Agents are required to eliminate or adjust these kinds of errors in the system.

so your saying that anyone who begins to realize can no longer be hacked into by an agent. if thats the case why was it that in M1, they had to hold a gun to neo before he was unplugged?

I think maybe agents can only take over a person if that person shows fear or shock at seeing something 'unwordly' like Neo flying.
I think these emotions are like triggers for the agents who then take over that person so they can stop whatever is causing this 'glitch' in the matrix.

i agree with eblah2 on this maybe they cant hack into the person once they learn some of the truth signal becomes unstable or some connection is severed ect.

What about the Detective in Detective's Story. An Agent was about to take over his body when Trinity shot him...

were not talkin about cloning neo123, like that fight seen with neo and the copies of smith that lady walked by saw it and an agent hacked into her thats not cloning

agents can only hop into someone if tht person sees something strange, like the woman seeing the smith fight in reloaded, wouldnt u find it strange to see 100 clones fighting a guy who can fly??

but they couldnt get to morpheous because he wasnt doing anything out of the ordinary, to neo, he was a black guy in a big coat with cool shades, and tht was it.

Okay, I dont think the person has to be shocked, i mean, remember when Trinity was in the phone box and the truck driver turned into an agent, he wasn't shocked, just driving!

I was also thinking, when the agents were chasing that fast guy the reason they probably couldn't turn into him is because he would either cease to be (until they removed themselves from him or killed his body), switch places with the agent (doubt that) or the agent couldn't (those agents looked old and not upgraded!)...

the reason the truck driver turned into smith was because its not everyday u see a woman running down the road in a leather catsuit, agents can only transfer into a person if tht person sees something out of the ordinary.

like the tramp in the subway, he saaw morpheous disapear into a phone, thts why smith came!!

i had to register to reply to this post..... the agents didnt morph into neo because they wanted morpheus. they were gonna bug neo ( like they did) in an attempt to get to morpheus so they could get the codes to the zion mainframe. at that point they didnt care about neo, he was just a way to get to morpheus. and once again the skater kid was a link to neo. neo is the "one" and they could care less about catching the kid. they just wanted to get him to give up neo.
