The Meaning(S) of life?

Romuless

What do you believe the meaning of life is? Is the meaning of life some celestial secret that we are only meant to know once we've reached the ends of Eden (God) or is the meaning of life different for every person on earth. This leads us to another question, if you believe it is different for everyone, then is it preset by "fate" or some higher being? or is it set by our own self consciousness, or subconsciousness. It is in this that i would like to say everyones view of life is different. Also in saying this i would like to comment on one of the later lines in The Matrix Reloaded, "You've already made the choice, now you're here to understand why you've made it." and also comparing this to an early line in the first matrix, "Morpheus: Do you believe in fate? Neo: No... ... ... Because I don't like the idea that I'm not in control of my life." There are several "loop holes" in the matrix story, if neo doesnt like the idea of fate, and yet the oracle says that he has already made his choices in life, this is implying that his mind is being programmed somehow, does this mean the matrix goes beyond God? (not to sound blasphemus).Or does it mean that everyone in the matrix has they're thoughts sent to them by the machines, in which case explains the "freedom" of the Xionians. Or does this mean that life is pointless since everything is pre written? I would like to hear your thoughts on some of this if you don't mind :)
Truth

I don't think this really counts as a reply, but.............

As you pointed out, Neo doesn't belive in fate, and Morpheus says "I know exactly what you mean", and yet he completely believes the Oracle and her prophecies.

I think it means that basically humans are governed by their emotions, and their fates are set by the emotional decisions they make. For example, the Oracle knows what will happen because she understands the feelings that Neo and Trinity have for each other. She knows that they will each set their own paths and make choices based on defending each other.

I don't think everything is neccesarily 'pre-written', as that would leave no choice at all, I think mainly fate is governed by the illogical emotions of humans: ie, something that machines cannot understand and cannot have power over.

Romuless: I don't know.

:D

that's not cuz I didn't consider myself with it. It's because I believe - and have already niticed - that there are things happening beyond our mind and consciousness we could never reach by focussing on it with our brain. There may be ways... but I "think" that, trying to "think" about it, we do like someone trying to have a look on his own back.
