Administrator?

is there any way i can become an administrator? also, how does one go about creating a forum?

all the mods slots are filled.

creating a forum is NOT easy, and maintaining it is a billion
times harder.

if you have a web server, and good linux, perl or php knowledge
setting up a forum is easy. getting people to join is hard, unless
you have a killer web address.

i couldn't agree more with luc. I have tried to start a lot of things on line and they are all hard but the forum was one of the hardest.

oh well, the real reason i want the position is to learn more about the internet, comps, ect., im taking classes but they dont help much.

You won't learn much being a moderator or admin of a forum other than how little it pays. ;-)

btw: I don't know how old you are, but if you have $100 or so, find yourself 1 or 2 old old Pentium1 computers, and crack them open. Look at everything, move memory from one to the other, format the HD and install windows. install another sound or video card, read books on how to upgrade your computer, etc.

There are forums out there like ours here that are devoted to computer geekdom. Find those and find one or two you are comfortable in.

Dude i've been junior admin of another community site for close to a year now. I'll tell you this: Provided you have no troublemakers for forum wars to clean up after it's the simplest job ever. If members start ****-stirring between sites, it's a headache.

The traffic is the hardest to get and it's alot of hard work maintaining the site. And then you have that lovely java that u have to master to form the chatroom etc etc .........

Never again.


Oh not to mention that u have to make sure are doing the right thing on the site or you have to boot them yukky:confused:

Javascript and HTML are both MAJOR headaches. I tried to set up a forum on the school network but it was really hard, particularly seeing as some jerk deleted it repeatedly!!! When it was set up, all of the people on it kept sniping at each other, so I had to shut it down.

the name is important-if u have a wierd name no1 will go but matrixreloaded.com-thousands of matrix fans come here by accident daily-i guarantee it
